The Cobra light bar will NOT work with the Memphis Shades Fats windshield. You have to either chop the winshield brackets, or push the spots out or over. It will not work as is. From what I understand, the Kaw OEM windshield works with light bars, but it's expensive.

You modded yours. OP is talking about as is. As is, it will not work.
As far as mods go though, you have a couple options. Many people prefer the Memphis Shades windshield and Cobra light bar over the Kawi counterparts. You can make it work by fabricating a bracket to extend the spots out to the side to where they are over the turn signals, or out farther foward to clear the windshield. The problem with those two solutions is that pushing the spots out to the side may look (relative) awkardly spaced, and pushing them out front like Vulcan Mojo Man did will make the lights look uneven since the spots are a good 4 inches in front of the headlight. Whether that is bad or not is relative. You can of course extend the headlight out too, but then the signals are left behind. Solve one problem, create another. I have my own version of the solutions as well. I have the Memphis Shades Fats 19 and a Cobra Lightbar on my VN900. I took a dremel and a right angle grinder and cut/shaved down my windshield brackets on both the bike and the shield dramatically and re-drilled the holes on the brackets attached to the windshield. I works great and does not look like an after-thought at all. IMO it is the best solution because it shows more chrome on the headlight, brings the windshield closer which makes it deflect wind better, and keeps the spots, the headlight, and the turn signals where they are supposed to be. Whichever solution you shoose though, don't choose it based on what I or anyone else likes, your bike and your mods are for your enjoyment and only your opinion counts! |

I ordered the Cobra light bar on August 8 and received it on Sept 5, must be a long way from Platsburg New York to New Brunswick Canada, but I guess thats life. Lightbar install and wiring was a piece of cake, wired it to running lights on a relay and to the socket in the headlight bucket. As far as the Memphis Shades screen I will replace the bracket on the screen with 1 inch aluminuim angle iron brackets that I will fab, shave a little off the bracket on the bike and bolt the new bracket to existing holes. Every thing should go back to original if need be when Im done. Thanks to every body that answered my post.
