I did some work on the bike yesterday and some today. Here are some pictures of where I am at with the bike. Again things are going smoothly so far, just have to hook up my side mount plate and try firing it up, then it is on to the minor details and such.

Not looking to bad man. Are you gonna strip that wiring harness down and lose the stock switches?

I would but if I want to be able to drive it on the street without getting pulled over in every town I need to have the blinkers, They could be relocated to the side covers but that will be a project for another time as of right now.

Ya with out directionals, a low and high beem headlight I wouldn't be able to get an inspeciton sticker. The bike has an inspection sticker good till June 09 so I am going to run without directionals till then and try to get it passed with out them come that time. If I do then I start stripping the harness free of that stuff

Man down here I go to a place where they don't even look at your bike. They just write the sticker and hand it to you. I have to though because my bike is no where near legal. But I haven't gotten an inspection sticker in about two years.

Alright, so I am in the process of installing my taillight and I have run into a problem. I have installed a tailight like this once before on a VN800A without a problem but for whatever reason it just isnt working this time. So there are two wires coming from the taillight, a red and a black one. Coming from the bike there is a black red and blue. From my understanding the red is the constant and the blue is the relay. on the tail light the black is the constant and the red is the relay, and I would leave the black ground from the bike disconnected. That is how it has been hooked up in the past. This time I connect the red to the black and get a running light which is good but I put the blue to the black and the brake light comes on without me hitting the brake? I have tried other combinations to see if they work but I cant seem to find it. Any suggestions will help.

Did you check the brake light switch at the pedal? That one's given me grief... the little spring gets weak and stuck...

Well logic is out, I checked the connection to the brake line and the spring is working just find I even dissconnected the front brake wires and the rear and it still came on when i connected the relay wire. I am out of ideas............

Alley Rat when you took out some wires from your harness did you have any problems. How is your tail light hooked up?

You shouldn't have needed to strip anything out of the taillight circuit. I know I just cut off the ground wire and kept the stock connector. I'm trying to figure out what could be your problem because I have never had that trouble anytime I changed taillights.

So I un did the electrical tape around the wires to reveal the switch wire hitting the power wire a little bit. Kind of a pain in the *** taking things apart to find the problem but I knew the answer was somewhere. Thanks

So I have hooked up the tail light which I will take pictures of tonight. I also have a swing arm bag I will be putting on the bike for longer rides. Although I dont think it will be a perminant fixture.

Ok so aside from minor cleaning and fine tuning here and there, here is the final product for now. The pictures were taken at a bike show in NH today. The Kawasaki Bobber came in second place in the special interest group.
