So winter is around the corner and I am begining to think about what I can do to clean the bike up a little. I have come to the conclusion that underneath the tank needs some fixing. Clean the wires up. My plan is to run the wires through the neck and drill a whole under the tank so they come up so I hide the wires that wrap around the frame just infront of the seat. I am also going to get rid of the fan, and move the spark plug wire and the ignition coil to the side cover.
Question- Where can I find a new, longer spark plug wire so this can be move to the side cover? ![]()

You mean the back bone don't you? I ran my wires through the back bone and drilled a hole on the clutch side of it ran my wires out there. I don't think it would be a good idea to go into the neck. For spark plug wire you should be able to get it from the Kaw shop. You have to get solid core wire and they usually sell it by the foot. Or you can do like I did and get a 100' spool of it from the auto parts store. I figured with all the 800s in my group I might as well get a bulk supply but now I will never have to buy wire again.

Ya I meant to say the back bone. So for the sark plug wire it will be up to me to extend it. I was hoping I could just by a longer one. But that works to because I will be opening up the wire harness again anyways so whats another. Thanks for the help Alley.

I bought some solid core wire from a local Kawi dealership to extend my spark plug wire, from looking at this I am not completely sure how to extend this wire cleanly. Any tricks?

Just run it back to your coil. One plug wire is a lot different than a wiring harness. I just ran mine back to the coil under the side cover and zip tied the wire to the front of the battery box so it wasn't laying across the head. You don't notice it like that.

So yesterday I just buttoned up the wiring harness and put the seat and tank back on. I took out the fan, removed the kick stand switch, and moved the ignition cowl to the right side case under the seat after extending the spark plug wire another 3 feet. After I did that I cut the tab off the frame to clean up the engine area of wires and mounts. The rear brake light wire now runs under the bike and up under the seat. I will have pictures of the bike up later today.

Here are a few pics of the bike with the fan removed, the seat, some more of the wires taken out and the ignition coil moved.

I didnt make brackets cause I wanted the lowest height I could get, I have had the seat like that for 2 years with out a problem or movement. Now looks wise, probably not top notch but it is very effective for what I was going for, low and set back.

Is there a way you can post a pic of the fron seat mount? This is exactly how i want mine to look. Do you slide off the seat when accelerating? Is it at all comfortable for longer trips?

The seat is fine for long trips, what makes the bike uncomfortable after 45 minutes of straight riding is the bars. When accelerating hard from a stop I slide back a little but I use my clutch lever with two fingers and hold on with the other two and it isnt a problem. I can provide pics later today.

So I am going into the winter season wondering how I can switch up the bike slightly. I like the way bike looks with the bars and tins and such so I was thinking purely cosmetics. With that said I am thinking of painting the tins with a little more effort then just flat black and maybe switch the exhaust up. I also just purchased the same seat I have right now but in black incase it fits better with the color I choose. I am also going to send the chain guard out to get black powder coat like the rest of the bike and clean up the rear fender struts. I will post up the progress as well as pics once it starts coming together.
