I changed out my brake light/license plate holder. The LED one I had on there just didn't seem to go with the style of the bike. I like this one a lot better. The light is a Model A style with the upper half reading "stop" when the brakes are applied. I think it fits the bike a lot better.

I just need to get the license plate back on, and I'm good to go

Thanks. I've been doing some riding, but not as much as I want. I did a 130 mile ride a couple weeks back. I had to stop after about an hour of riding because my butt hurt so bad. The seat works great for around town, but I'm working on a solution for making longer times in the saddle manageable.

were you able to cut the back part of the plastic battery box off without removing it? I got the igniter and fuse box moved to side cover, could you post more pics of the exposed swing arm.

I couldn't remember if I removed the battery box or not. Then, I looked back through my posts and found the entry below. If you don't want to read all the way through, the quick answer is no, I didn't remove the box. Have you mounted the igniter and fuse box behind the side cover or are they just sitting in there? Mine are just sitting in there right now, but i'm rolling some ideas around in my head for getting them mounted in there nice and pretty.

I got around to cutting the plastic yesterday. I made the cut right behind the battery box where it transitions to the platform that the IC ignitor and fuse junction box are mounted on. Here is what I had leftover:

That plastic "C" thing has to go.

I'm assuming you're talking about the "C" shaped section of plastic behind where the ignitor and junction box are mounted. That will be an easy removal. I made my cut with a metal-cutting sawzall blade. I used a metal blade because of the finer teeth that wouldn't tear up the plastic as much as a wood blade. I cut it by hand because I felt like it gave me better control and the plastic was very easy to cut. I imagine that it would be easy to make the cut with a dremel tool as well. After I made the cut, I clean the burrs off the edge by running a sharp knife along the cut.

I think this is the best picture I have of the back of the bike after I cut the plastic.

your cut was made at the top of the platform? I can't see any wires from the rear. i will mount the igniter and fuse box, I have a pic saved someone on the forum did it. just want fuse box accessible.

Great job!!

I'm really impressed with the way you mounted the curved rear fender. I didn't have that much fab ability when I did mine so just went with a flat one, but you pictures show just how easy it is.

I like the struts for it too, it's all good

El Skitzo-- Thanks for the kind words. I've never done anything like this, so I've got to give a lot of credit to my buddy who did all the welding. I cut and shaped all the pieces, but he did all the excellent welding work. I spent a lot of time fiddling around, scratching my head, and staring at the back of the bike before working out how the fender was going to be mounted. How's your latest project going? You bought a Triumph, didn't you? Are you posting updates on your work anywhere?

Dave-- I think there's enough room to mountt the igniter and fuse box and still put the side cover back in place. It's been awhile since I've looked at it, but I'll mess around with it some time this winter.
