Some of us also have to keep in mind our talked-about Red Lodge sojourn for next summer. Dave, you'll have to give us a 2-3 day head start. I might need a different bike, since apparently Mean Streaks can't take the sustained speed.

yeah, it handled it fine the first year.
the thing with the Meanie is that the further west you go, the higher the speed limits get. even doing the speed limit in a 75 or 80 zone, really lowers the MPG's on the Meanie and the distance between stops. but, if the trip is long enough, you can do mostly two lane roads and have a great time. the Meanie would eat up the asphalt ! but you know that.

How about we do W. VA next year with the official start still in Carlisle (for me it's on the way to W VA) and either have someone plan a separate 2010 MA BTK Forum ride or plan on MA for 2011?

Works for me. Hey Debbie, have you done any planning, i.e. routes and time line for goting to RL next year? I am seriously considering it.

Assuming we stay at the Alpine Lodge, it is 2,089 miles for me. from: edison, nj to: 1105 S Broadway, Red Lodge, MT 59068-9517 (Alpine Lodge) - Google Maps
Another option is to ship the bike one way and ride one way. But shipping is $734. A bit pricey. Last edited by DebbieW : 08-26-2009 at 11:55 AM. |

Yeah, 2 weeks sounds like a minimum. I would like to make sure I see as much as possible while on the trip, I've never been to that part of the country. Who else is thinking of going from the East coast? I hope my son has a bike by then, if not, I'll probably wait until he gets one before making this trip.

Hey Jim, I've got an 06 900LT in really good shape for sell Mapquest has it at 2195 miles from my house. I'm looking at 3 weeks as I've never been to this part of the country either and would like to see as many landmarks as possible.

What are you asking for your 900? I'll forward it to him.
