Default 2010 PA BTK Forum Ride

There was some talk about changing the location to either West Virginia or Massachusetts. If we decide to go to West Virginia, this place sounds nice and motorcycle friendly (thanks NCDave for posting it in a different thread).

Old Clark Inn -Affordable lodging alternative to hotels, motels, B&B’s -Marlinton WV

Although it's a year away, any thoughts on where everyone wants to go next year? I thought I would get the discussion going so that we have a decision by January.

I had such a good time that I am already thinking about next year.

That looks interesting Debbie, maybe we could rent the whole house (14-26 people) I have been to some of the places they are talking about, lots of good riding in WV. Maybe we could even sneak onto the skyline drive.

I might be able to do this by next year. Heading south would be cool.

Debbie, the Old Clark Inn sounds really good. I like the idea of renting the whole house. Looking on the map there sure are a bunch of wiggly roads in the area

And we could still keep the "official" start in Carlisle. It's about 5 hours by slab to the Old Clark Inn. That would work well for me since it's about 8 hours for me if I ride there directly from NJ. We could make a pick up spot along the way for those that it wouldn't make sense to start in Carlisle.

And then there isn't any issue with keeping the name "PA" since we could still start in that state.

Well, as long as JD lives in Carlisle, I guess we're safe in having one of the meetups there.

I'm thinking about a second meetup point further south with a couple more days of riding.

While it looks like the Old Clark Inn has 13 or 14 rooms, there's other lodging right nearby for any overflow.

Just for the he** of it I called. Whole house is $685 a night for 26 people. It is available. Just thought I would ask. The guy I talked to was very nice. He said if there is more people than that he can get them a room close by.

i have come to terms with the fact that i tend to put on more miles that a lot of people are comfortable with so if WV is more central to the rest of the group then i will do my best to come to you guys again. but if everyone has the time to come up to New England, i'm sure we can do our best to be hospitable. if that were the case, i would suggest mid to upstate NH as the base for the ride so that adds a bit more travel time to everyone.

David give us a town for the "upstate NH meeting place". Just for a point of reference. This could be a very interesting trip also.

North Conway would be a good central point or Lincoln. both are pretty much at the end of the Kancamangus Highway which is a great ride with beautiful scenery.

if there is enough interest in going north, we can start a poll thread to see where the majority lies. i just don't want to see a bunch of people drop out of the ride cause of the distance from home.

I don't care where we ride, it would be nice if we didn't have to deal with major storms in the area. Last year was the same thing and prevented me from comming up to wellsboro for the day. This year Saturday and Sunday seemed like storms again. What the hell is it with the first week of August.

I say we start in PA and go to Key West. How does that sound....lol

Key West.....that sounds good. 'course David would ride straight thru, while the rest of us take 4 days!

I know one thing, an EZ Pass is in my future, all those toll booths were a pain in the butt this year!

Maybe next year we avoid anything that resembles an Interstate highway or toll road.

that's the way to do it Mike ! if anyone does come up north, whether for this ride or ever, try to go through the Catskills in NY rather than take the interstate. it adds a couple hours, but there is some real nice riding and some beautiful country all through there.
