If you're going to do all that why not just stay on 224 all the way west? Granted its a 2 lane a lot of the way, but the scenery would be better. And you would come pretty close to me. LOL
US 30 has been all redone through the middle of the state. It is 4-lane all the way across Ohio.

I have one definite from my riding group joining us on the way out. He is then continuing cross country with his brother after the weekend. I have another one in my group looking to hook up with us in Wyoming and then he is continuing to Alaska. Although I should tell him we won't really be riding through Wyoming (unless you count Yellowstone).

I really hope we pull this off. It will be my longest trip but I am already looking forward to it.

Really?? Didn't know that. Haven't been on the road past Ontario in a long time. Thanks

1711 miles here also according to Mapquest.
I have been wanting to ride out there for a few years now.

Rob, if you wanna hang with me then you are more than welcome. the offer is out there to anyone who wants to push hard to cover some ground. just keep in mind though, that i usually take about the same amount of time that everyone else is, but i go a lot farther. i may try to run up to BC before RL next summer, to see Brent and Jodie. that is, if they can't make it. if not, i might shoot all the way to the west coast to see Spok and hopefully ride back in with the group. just something to think about. oh, and as much as i like you and anyone else, i will leave you at a gas station if you slow me down
no bs, just being straight. the only way to put on the miles that i do, in the time that i do, is to make quick stops.
I'd be up for the express ride myself if I'm able to swing the trip. The only issue I have is fuel: I have a small tank and my fuel economy goes way down on the interstates once I get above 70-75. On a 3.2 gallon tank at those speeds, I'm hitting reserve at about 100 miles since I'm only pulling about 45mpg.

That's a lot of stops.

On the rural highways at 60-65MPH I can get over 60mpg, but I'm still wanting to stop at 150 miles to be sure I don't get caught dry with no stations in sight.

once you get past about the middle of the country, the speed limits are usually at least 70 and a lot of times the fuel stops are very spread out at times. you're gonna want to stop well before you flip to reserve, or carry spare gas and be prepared to use it. that's one of my biggest complaints with the Mean Streak.

Well, just heard from my son that he is pushing his plan for buying a bike back by 1 year, so no RL 2010 for me. Hopefully, 2011 will work for us. Guess I'll have to plan a ride to Deals Gap to console myself!
