Oyster Run comes to Anacortes Sept. 24


Thousands of motorcyclists will roar into town for the 24th annual Oyster Run, the largest motorcycle run in the Pacific Northwest on Sunday, Sept. 24.

The event has no fees, no official starting place and no set route.

Bikers start arriving by 10 a.m. and Commercial Avenue is closed off downtown to accommodate motorcycles, which usually park four rows deep. Vendors sell Harleys, jewelry, leather goods, T-shirts, food and services, such as on-the-spot leather repairs, at more than 100 booths. There is also music, motorcycle drill teams and plenty of oysters.

5th Annual Iron Butt Scholar**** Charuty Run.
Saturday Sept. 24 is the 5th annual Iron Butt "tongue in cheek" Scholarship Charity Run sponsered by the Mt. Baker Chapter, Bellingham Harley Owners Group. The ride begins @ 10:00 AM at the Bellingham Harley Davidson and ends at the Roadside Tavern in Deming, a total distance of approximately 85 miles. Riders are free to go on th Scooter Stuff for their annual BBQ. Raffle tickets will be drawn at the end of the ride and the winning blackjack hand will be determined. All proceeds go to the annual scholarship fund to be awarded each spring to a graduating high school senior pursing higher education.

Registration begins at the Bellingham Harley Davidson Shop @ 9:00 AM and the ride begins @ 10:00AM. Registration fee is $10.00 per person. Iron Butt patches are availabie at a cost of $10.00 with a free year rocker. A free raffle will be held at the end of the ride.
