I hear you. I want to make it to there, and probably will even if there is no official gathering. I am sure to have a great ride either way. And oh so much quieter now that I am sporting stock pipes!

What is the company that manufactures those skins you had on your bike last year? I have some heavy vinyl stuff from 3M, but its adhesive, and once removed must be replaced. And I got the map thing downloaded, and have included the states I have ridden in, but I am having a time getting the software to allow me to add it to my signature.

The only drawback to the tankslapper material is it's not as resistant to stains and yellowing as the 3M material, which they sell as well. At basically 15 bucks thought you could just replace it every year, if it got bad. On my VFR, it gets stained from my jacket because you are always rubbed up on the tank on a sport bike. A cruiser would do much better in that respect.

Well -lots of time, yet. It seems less organized and for those east of Montana, there's lot of big, wide nothing to ride through.

If it jells, then great, if not, well - it's spectacular riding country.

I may be eligible for enough vacation time to make it this year. I want to go to Glacier after RL too so I hope it all works out this year.

A few folks have expressed an interest in a gathering at Red Lodge for 2012. So far it looks like it is up to us this year.

Jim has showed us how, perhaps its our turn to run the gathering. Its always easy to follow, but not so easy to find our own way in things.

I know that as long as my wife stays healthy, I am in for a ride to Red Lodge. She likes to get rid of me for a few days every year.

Are we talking the usual July 4 time frame? I have plans to take my new wife through Red lodge on our summer ride. Perhaps we can coordinate with a Red Lodge gathering.

We usually get there on the weekend after the 4th, I usually leave Pullman on Thursday and plan on arriving sometime Friday, and leave on Monday morning. Partly to dodge the weekend traffic, and also because I want to enjoy the journey. There is a big Harley gathering on the weekend following the time we usually spend in Red Lodge.

The 14th would be the weekend that the Harley's are in town, better call ahead for room reservations. If I make it, I would be there over the weekend right after the 4th. That would be the evening of the 6th through the morning of the 9th.
Any weekend on the road is a good weekend.

I've already made my reservations for the weekend after July 4th. Yup - avoiding the Harleys. The owner of the Alpine Lodge says she was already full for the Red Lodge Harley Rally.

I'll start asking the boss about that week off. Hopefully it works out. I miss going to RL.....

Jeff, if we indeed need to do the planning, I hereby elect you as committee chairman, planning guru/supervisor, chief parking lot attendent, and possibly "head bug scraper" (vague pun/double entendre intended).

I appreciate your faith in this old man, and yes I have made reservations at Alpine, but I may have to bow out due to a very important project here on the home front.

    That's a shame.

FYI: Alpine asked me for 2-weeks notice for cancelling if I did.

I'm still on my way - I may be bringing my Brother-in-Law on his Yammie with me.

I have not totally ruled the trip out yet, But it might be the better side of common sense if I do cancel. It will all depend on whether or not we have the new house in place or not.

A two weeks notice for cancellation is very fair. Thanks for the heads up.

I've got so much happening right now, my finances are slapping me with a dose of reality. I don't see myself being able to make it this year.

Don't ya just hate it when that happens??

I have also decided that Red Lodge,as much fun the entire trip is, is simply not on the menu for this old rider either for 2012. I have a house to put in before fall, and anyone knows there are always unforeseen problems.

To those that do go. Have a great ride, and ENJOY the journey!

    AND PICTURES ARE REQUIRED!

Ride safe and keep the rubber side down!

Unfortunately, it looks like this event has run its course. This is the second year with less than a handful who can make it. It was awesome while it lasted though.
