I re-looked at my post- I did not purposly put the scouring person (red face). I meant to put a smiley face but I cannot remove it?
I posted this a few days ago with no responses- I thought maybe the title was not clear enough to pose the question- There will be a ride Saturday on July 15 and if they are calling for rain it would be postponed until Sunday July 22rd? We will meet at the Thruway exit in Utica, NY and go north through the adirondack mountains to Old Forge. If you like to take pictures of beautiful scenery bring your cameras. There are gas stations right off the Thruway and about 25 miles north of Utica. Then it is "dry" for a while. As it gets closer, I will get out more information. As far as where you come from, the more the better. Just because we ride Central NY does not mean you have to come from here! All types of motorcycles welcome. If interested please respond. The more the merrier.
Please watch the forum as soon I will have more info. If you will look for lodging in utica, I have personally stayed at the red roof in on genessee street a few years ago. It was nice then I would think it still is. By nice I mean, clean quiet, comfortable but not lugurious. I have no ties to them but I'll bet they are on the web if you want more info. It is within 2 miles of our starting point in Utica. Last edited by semerm : 05-24-2006 at 07:40 PM. |

Below please find the information for the CNY RIDE this summer. Print and save this informaiton. Please register asap.
CENTRAL NEW YORK/ NORTH MOTORCYCLE RIDE 7-15-06 RAIN DATE = 7-22-06 A ride has been organized for Saturday July 15 and if forecast is calling for rain it will be postponed until Saturday July 22nd (times will stay the same no matter when we ride). I will check the weather forecast by 7-12-05 and a decision will be made. Emails will be sent out then to those who have registered (please see below for details) indicating if the ride is on for 7-15 or postponed. The purpose of the ride is to enjoy the scenery and meet fellow enthusiasts. We will not be testing the upper limits of the speed of our bikes. That being said, we will stay within the posted speed limits. The day of the ride, we will meet at the Thruway exit 31 in Utica, NY on the parking area on the left as you go through the toll booths at approximately 10:00am (to allow people from afar to arrive). We will have a brief ride meeting to discuss the formation we will ride in and any details. If someone needs gas then we will be driving by a station and can stop (within a mile off the Thruway exit). We will leave at approximately 10:15 am travel north up NYS RT 12 and we will stop at the Kwik Fill in Alder Creek, NY. We should arrive there at about 11:00am. Here we can top off the tanks if we want, and/or grab a cup of coffee, etc. as it is about 25 miles before the next gas station (from what I remember). At the Alder Creek Kwik fill we will meet to discuss our time in Old Forge. At that time I will hand out some information about Old Forge and we will (by group consensus) decide how long we will have for “free time” in Old Forge. There are some people supposed to join us at the “Kwik Fill" for the ride as well. We should arrive at Old Forge at about 11:45am or so. We will stop at the first gas station in Old Forge and re-meet for any questions and to re-affirm the afternoon meeting time. Once we have agreed on a meeting time people can go on there own (or stay together if they wish) in Old Forge. There are many places right along the main route including a McDonald’s and many other local eateries. The times are approximate. Please try to arrive early at the Thruway or at the Kwik Fill so we all can begin the ride on time so the group does not have to wait. For emergency purposes, my cell phone number is (315) 335-4225 but I cannot hear it while riding. I will check the phone prior to leaving the stops the day of the ride. For those who are not familiar, we will be traveling through areas where there are plenty of wildlife, so we should all stay alert for deer, road kill, etc. We will also be going to beautiful country through the Adirondack Mountains so if you are so inclined, bring your cameras. If you would like to scope out the attractions in Old forge before that morning, please visit http://www.oldforgeny.com/. Please register by dropping me an email at semerm12@dreamscape.com to let me know how many bikes you will be bringing and your name at least 3 days before the ride. Because we may have a large group, we will not wait a long time after 10:15 am for everyone in Utica but if we hear someone is close (via cell phone) we will wait a few minutes. Anyone with ANY type of motorcycle can come. Please pass this info on to others. The more the merrier! As of 5-29-06 approximately 20 people have indicated that they are interested in the ride. I hope to see you there. Mark Semeraro |

I normally go labor day weekend, or basically when ever I feel like it. I'll let you know a couple of weeks before if you'd like.

21 days left before the ride is scheduled. Please see previous post for details. 7 people registered so far.
People should register even if they are not positive they can come so if it rains, I can let then know prior to the day of the ride to avoid people meeting and the ride postponed due to rain. People who do not register I will not have an email address to notify them. |

I'm still in if it happens on the 15th. I'll be coming from Keuka Lake and will roll into Utica around 9:45. I'll be up for whatever the group wants to do in Old Forge, but will plan to head for home around 2:00 since I have about 200 miles on the return trip and a commitment that night.
If it gets pushed to the rain date, I'll have to bow out due the wife's Birthday. |
