I am well prepared for this trip, just wondering what kind of numbers you guys are coming up with.

lets see.........

hotel 3 nights - thursday going out, 2 days coming back $80 a night, shared $40 a night = $120

gas approximately = 1400 each way, so 2800 divided by average 40 a gallon / so estimated usage70 gallons at average $4.25 a gallon - $300

yeah I know, we may pay more some places, less others. If you eat well, $25 a day food times 8 days = $200 ( now personally, thats a high number, with the exception of breakfast, I grab a burger and go).

alpine hotel..........unknown until we get rooms, I am on a waiting list for a cabin, which,if it sleeps 4 cuts the cost way down.

so other than entertainment, beer it could be less than a thousand easily in my opinion. I generally dont stay in 12 star hotels, the ones I have held are $65 to $75 a night......2 beds, so bunking up should be in good shape. Most of the bikes n the open highway do better than 40 mog, after fixing hopefully mine will.

a realistic food bill............

breakfast at dennys, $10
lunch jack in the crack $5
dinner ( I eat light dinners myself) $ 5 or $6

any other opinions ?

I'm figuring closer to $1000, give or take a few depending on fuel costs. A big expense with travel is normally lodging, but sharing rooms is going to cut that at least in half.

Ya I was thinking around 1K. Did not think of the lodging on the way up and back though. If Arts place does not work out u guys can crash at my place. It's around 20mins south of the exit to Arts place.

My room can hold 3 people so if I get 2 others to share it will bring the room down to ~$36 a night.. Not bad!!!

Can't wait!!!!!!

Hey Guys, fyi, breakfast is included at the Alpine while you are staying there and BTK provided a beer wagon and sodas that never ran out last year. I am assuming it will be the same this year also. They also provided a big bbq on Sat night. Should cut down your expenses some....

well, you are optimistic, going over mountains i estimated miles/gallon around 35 average, round trip 3000 miles, and i am sure some places we will pay 4.75-5.00 a gallon. i figured 25 a day for meals. so!

3000 miles = 80 gallons@ 4.50= 400.00
6 night hotel@ 100(avg) 600.00
7 days three meals a day@ 25= 175.00
7 days extras including the
rally/poker run/parl fees =200.00

total (low estimate) =1375.00
so i am budgeting on 2000.00 just to be safe, if i only spend 1000.00 that will be great! just didn't want anyone to get caught by surprise. there are always over runs on everything. CHEERS!!

always good to estimate high............not sure about the poker run myself, I want to get some time to see the mountains and get all zen there before I come back to life in california.

I havent taken a week vaction in about 10 or 12 years.................

everyone may want to make sure they have a tow rider on their insurance policy.

I have the forms made up for emergency stuff that we can all fill out the night before if you chose, just in case something happens, want to be prepared

plus, I went and ordered a trauma jump kit for the trip, and for other rides later on. I am an ex medic, Rich is certified in the bystander assistance course

I'll call Geico and make sure I have it on mine.
I had my CPR license a few years back.
Did CPR on a poor guy last summer but he did not make it. Paramedics let me work on him for another few mins after they showed up. They said I was doing great, Was not fun when he regurgitated though, but did not stop me.

That makes three of us. I will be taking a tent which sleeps ~4 so we can crash at rest stops if you guys are down. Just make sure you guys take a sleeping bag and we can save even more. I will get my luggage rack today. I will also start estimating costs and making a list of what I will take. NO compressors please!

How many miles per day are you guys planning on doing?

Is anybody planning on doing anything special to their seat to make them a little more comfy for a long haul?

I took my stock seat over to B i tchin' Stitchin' there in Loveland and had him put some raw gel in it for me (I ordered it online, but he can get it for you, too). My seat is really, REALLY comfy, and it didn't cost me much at all.

I was figuring about 100 gallons to be safe. As far as the price, it will be cheaper once we get out of California, BUT, no telling that the price will actually be by July.

There's where you're high. With us splitting rooms, we won't be over $50-$60, and possibly as low as $30. On the road, I was planning Motel-6 style places.... $40 for a single and $20 per if we split (if we can stand being around each other after 5 days on the road ).

What poker run? There's a ride over Beartooth Saturday, but no poker run that I'm aware of.

I was thinking, since it is after the 4th, gas price gouging will be done, I fiigure some areas gas will be high, some lower, so it will balance.

next ride meeting, we need to all discuss where we definetly plan on stopping, so I can finalize some reservations

did everyone contact alpine lodge so we are all on the waiting list ?

Last summer after breakfast on Sat. we all rode up to the Beartooth lookouts and took lots of pics. Then some of us continued over the mountain and down to Cook City (about 10 miles from East entrance to Yellowstone) and had lunch. We then headed north via the Chief Joseph Hwy which is also considered a great ride and then swung back to Red Lodge in time for the BBQ, I think it was about 250 miles. Most took their time getting started that morning with lots of photo opts. The first page of the main thread has links about Beartooth Hwy and Chief Joseph....check them out.

If you guys are looking at your budgets, set aside some $$ for dinner Friday night. Those of us who are there early enough like to go to the Carbon County Steakhouse that night. I don't usually like steak, but their Cowboy Coffee Ribeye is to die for. It'll set you back a few $$, but it's worth it!
