Ya, when we were considering leaving Tuesday AM it was to give enough time to see Yellowstone on the way up, but it would turn out making for two VERY short ride days, so we're back to the original plan of meeting at Art's Tuesday evening and heading out at the butt crack of dawn Wednesday morning.
Art lives about an hour or so north of Santa Clarita not far from the 138 near Frazier Park... beautiful ride, but it can be rough finding his street and house after dark (not to mention deer). Of course, in July we've got light until well after 8. I was thinking of a semi-final staging at I-5 & Roxford in Sylmar around 5 or 6 Tuesday and heading up to Art's together from there. The route there is pretty well set, depending on Lobo and Mrs Lobo. If they cancel, then we'll shave off about 300 miles and slab the 15 out and MAYBE get to see Yellowstone on the way. If they don't cancel, then the route will be as follows: Day 1 (Wed) - LA to Carson City (about 500 miles) Day 2 (Thurs) - Carson City to as close to Montana as we are comfortable with. I'm hoping for Idaho Falls, which is around 700 miles, but we could stop in Twin Falls, or maybe even push further to West Yellowstone, but I really don't want to do a lot of riding after dark, and we will lose an hour with the time zone. Day 3 (Fri) - Final 300 miles to Red Lodge (or more mileage, depending on how far we get Thursday). I'd like to get into Red Lodge before dinner. Day 4 (Sat) - RL festivities, ride over Beartooth Day 5 (Sun) - Hang with those staying over Sunday night and rest up for the ride home. Day 6 (Mon) - Head out from RL early, over Beartooth, and cruise through Yellowstone. I'm not sure how much time we'll have to actually stop, you can easily spend 2 weeks in the park walking the various basins, but there's still a lot of beautiful scenery that we can see from the road, and we will stop to check out at least one of the geyser basins. From there, we'll exit the park's south gate and pass east of the Grand Tetons... more good photo ops, and continue south as far as we are comfortable with. Day 7 (Tues) and Day 8 (Wed) - Mileage and stops will be based on how far we get the previous day. I know that I can personally get from Salt Lake to LA in a day... I've done it twice, but it's a long haul and I expect that we'll end up stopping Tuesday night somewhere around St George or Virgin River. ![]()

Man, this thread is better than the official RL thread! You're making me wish we were riding with YOU guys.

It's all free dude! No tickets needed! When I was younger, we would go to the saddle ranch. It's a night club in city walk. I would get tore up and after last call, we would end up in hollywood crusing the streets until the stupor wore off. I have seen it all in the streets of hollywood man. And everything means everything. We would carry an old tape recorder and tape random crap. I have recorded junkies shooting up among other things. We would also mess around with prostitues. We would call them over to our car, then "settle" a deal, only to take off burning rubber when the girls tried to get in the car. I should own rights to the original jack a$$ movies! When I think about that, I can't help to truly say "God bless America"

I use to work for a company right off of Santa Monica and Highland for about 9 months and that is a WEARD part of town.I am surprised the police do nothing to clean up the 11:00pm - 5:00am people that hang on the street corners... But i guess if they did clean it up than there would be nothing to watch. ![]() |

Wish we could! We're going to be in Oregon and Washington. We're planning to ride out there the week before RL, then head over to Cary's and ride to RL with Cary and Jeff. I sure am looking forward to seeing all you folks in RL, though!
