^^^

the alpine does offer camping space if one is so inclined. they really only have 17 rooms i believe and 1 cabin. you can also talk to larry and trish, they own vacation rental homes, maybe ya'll could go in together and get one? if you go to Red Lodge, Montana Gateway to Yellowstone National Park via the Scenic Beartooth Highway you can also get the list of other motels in town.

Thanks, I will do that this week as a backup. I spoke to Larry and he said that he automatically signed up everyone who went last year, so if there are cancellations he'll have rooms open.

The Comfort Inn is across the street from the Alpine and where I stayed last year (it was cheaper) was the Super 8, now called the Beartooth Hideaway Inn & Cabins, which is about a mile south of the Alpine. Rms there are about $90 a night (not bad if you share).

I'm bringing my tent just in case.

Got an inverter and cellular wireless for internet access... it's slow as hell so I won't WANT to spend a lot of time online, but I'll be able to access email.

Across the street is cool. A mile down the road is too far.

Rich when I say "across the street" it is......but I am thinking maybe 100 yards down the road. Definite walking distance.

Cool.
Mark checked Comfort Inn and they said that they were about a mile down the road

When you said "across the street" I was trying to think like a midwesterner... out here, "across the street" is about 100 feet.

To some folks, "next door" could be 20 miles

Well, regardless.....I made reservations at the Comfort Inn as a backup. Hopefully Larry or Trish will call back and tell me they have an opening. Honestly, I don't do floors, park benches, garages anymore when I'm riding with my wife. So in that vein Rich.....do you know if is there a hotel/motel near where you are overnighting in Frazier Park on the Tue evening?
Thanks

Art's got a very nice house in the woods (cue banjo music)

I haven't talked to Lobocop latey, but I'm hoping there won't be too many of us to crash at his place Wednesday night.

Unfortunately, I think they only thing we're going to find in Idaho Falls is what we bring.

Hot tubs are hard enough to find in SoCal.

Hey Jesus! Welcome to the forum!

Yes, Art is continuing on to the east, and we'll be heading south on I-15 Monday morning... straight slab ride home, but probably going to make it 3 days so we aren't pushing too hard after over a week on the road.

Depending on how we feel, we could push two 600 mile days and get home in 2 days, but I wanted to allow for the fact that we'll have been on the road for over a week and MIGHT not be up to pulling a couple of long days back to back.

Not shown on the above list is what's really day 1... a short hop Tuesday evening up to Art's place near Frazier Park.... about 120 miles for me from Chino.
i was looking at your route to red lodge. why in the world would you ride slab in some of the most beautiful country you'll ever see? from idaho falls we should head over to jackson and then north up through the parks. from there it's a short hope to red lodge.
