And it won't be as much fun with only one of us rolling into town wearing the special gear

BTW: Quick reminder (Art, you can ignore this one)...

Our Vulcans are liquid cooled. Be sure and check the level in your coolant reservoir. On the 900s, it's under what looks like the front pulley cover (but it's really the reservoir cover).
You can either pull the cover, or get the bike level and look into the back. There's a vertical slot that allows you to see the coolant level.
1500/1600, it's under the right side cover above the passenger pegs/boards.

Cold engine, the coolant should be about halfway up the tank.
If it's been more than 2-3 years, it would be wise to change the coolant, but it's a little late for that since it requires removing the tank, and I wouldn't want to tackle that after Big Bear and go 3,000 miles untested.

Rich, my bike is at Bert's as we speak, i wanted them to check everything before the trip, it feels good, but i took it in anyway, better safe than sorry.

yeah! i figured i haven't taken to the dealer since i bough it two years ago, so i just wanted them to check the bike generally and let me know if there is anything needing attention, since i have been doing all the maintenance at home, you never know, i might just walk out with a new nomad,

Dealers scare me... that's why I don't use them.
Up until the club ride to Zion where a VTX puked coolant in Hesperia on the way out and again in Primm on the way home, every time we've had a significant failure of a bike on a ride it's been right after a dealer service.

But that's the reason for pushing the BB ride so late in the month... if any problems show up with any of the bikes, we've still got 9 days to fix them.

Don't need no excuse for that... just a free hour or two in the afternoon.

Well, my inner tube and rim strip came in from Phoenix AmericanMotoTire.com sure knows how to get their stuff shipped out quickly. I got it overnight, literally, and did not pay any extra money!
