    Default Central Mass ride 07/27/08

    Hey,

Seadog and I have been talking about taking a ride around the Quabbin Reservois soon, so I figured I would nail down a date and route. It looks like we can all meet up on Rt9 in the Spencer / East Brookfield, MA area, and ride west on 9 to the Quabbin, then out onto Rt202 north, to Rt 122/32 south, then on home. I'm not quite sure where to stop to eat, or even where to meet yet. If you got any ideas, let us know. I plan on meeting up, and lifting the kick stands at around 9am.

It's not "my" ride, so I'm pretty open to ideas on food and rest stops, and routes. I've got like 5 or 6 buddies coming with me, but it would sure be cool to get some pretty high numbers, and meet people from here. Of couse all brands and riding "styles" are welcomed.

I plan to take Rt9 out west that way after work one day next week to see if there is a plaza nearby that will be able to hold a bunch of bikes, and preferrably have a coffee shop.

    Any Ideas?

To add to what Frenchy has said here's a map of the proposed run. I'm putting the link only to the image since I wanted to keep a larger size so people could see better. If I posted the photo itself it would goof up the forum layout. QuabbinTrip.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The actual ride should be about 87 miles not counting from where you are coming from. Without taking into account fuel stops, food stops, and scenic viewing the time frame is 2hours and 24 min. Of course we have to add hours to it for stops but this will give you an idea. There's also a spot to park the bike on the Quabbin that has a nice overlook for those wanting to take any photos.

Will be great to ride with you again. The tentative meetup point so far will probably be across from McDonalds in the shopping center in Spencer, Ma.. There's a Dunkin Donuts in there too for those that are caffine freeks (that would be me hehe).
Rt. 49 is right off of Rt. 20 near the Sturbridge exit of the Ma. Pike.

Sweet, glad to have you with us Chris. Hopefully Bobg can make it too.

Hopefully this ride grows some legs...or wheels.

I'd love to go if I can. Also, you might want to get some input from ISpeed when he gets back... since he lives out in that direction.

That's cool. I got three buddies on HD's and one on a Honda 750 something. I'm still waiting to see if another guy can come.

Yeah he does, I wonder if he'll be back in time. He likes to take those REALLY long rides...

In august I'll be planning a loop around RI down to the Newport and beaches. That's a pretty good long run. Really nice riding. It's about a 6-8hr ride, so that one might have to be on a saturday, so some of the older riders can re-coup in time for monday really early morning... It'd be cool to hook up for that one.

I resemble that remark. LOL That would be a cool ride. I was stationed at the Newport Navy base for a very short time back in umm 66' in fact that's where I got my one and only ink.

Umm for sure. I'll make sure also I bring my wide angle. Can post them on my site in full size for those that would want to download. Of course smaller size would be posted on here. If the weather co-operates should be nice photo opportunities at the Quabbin for you. Couple of nice pull offs with a great scenic view and if we go up to the tower that even gives a better view.

Hehehe, my dad was 10...lol Both my in-laws were stationed there. My wife was born there...

We (Mrs, baby, and I) were going to go today, but the weather is pretty crappy out, so it's a NetFlix day.

Overcast here calling for rain later ( I think late at nite ) maybe I'll take a short scoot around town. Weather doesn't look promising for awhile. Blah.

I am getting tired of this "tropical" weather pattern that's been around here for weeks. The rain is gone for today, might be ok for a quick ride this afternoon.
