Let's give it a shot. This appears to be in the right section, so we can keep it here. I'll start sending PM's out to every CA rider I can find here on the forum so they are aware of the ride. Hopefully SCRhollywood can make it since he's the one who put the fire under our butts and started this thread. I'll keep you updated on a weekly basis as to who is coming and who isn't coming. Let's ride !!!

I'm currently putting it up on other forums. We still need to pin down an exact start point and time, btw.

Do you want to open it up to non-BTK riders? I'd hate to have a bunch of squids show up. Just something to think about. All of us Nor-Cal guys know each other pretty well.

The first time I hosted a ride, we had a BARF member and a person from Honda Shadow Resource Online. They were cool cats, so I plan to put the invite up for them.

If worse case scenario occurs, we can just form two groups - the main group, then one for the riders that just want to run at a more 'lively' pace.

Sounds good. I'll keep track of the BTK riders coming and you keep track of the other forum riders.

    Sounds good for the tracking.

I was thinking more like a 10a start time. If the wife participates, I'll need an 8a roll time from San Mateo.

As for Nike, I've never been there, but it sounds good. Is it close to CA-25?

10:00 is better for people coming from the Sacramento or Antioch area, too. It's close to 25, a few exits away if i recall. There's a McDonalds right there and a gas station with a nice mini-mart. You will need to pull up the exact exit and address from Yahoo Maps.

I could probably do one or both of your surf/turf ride ideas but both starting points are at least 3 hours away from me. I would be willing to try this depending on schedule and if i could get my gf to get the day off. at this point it is pretty iffy but I will chime in when I know more.

is there something at point "B" on the turf ride? i mean, unless y'all are corrections officers I don't see much down there.
Ride it like you have big payments and insurance is really really expensive...

For riders on the valley side of Nor-Cal (Sacramento, Turlock), we could meet in Modesto and ride to Gilroy from there.

I don't know anything about the route. Slo'Poke (Alex) will need to answer that one for you. If this is successful, we can plan for the next ride to start in Sacramento and go from there. If the turnouts justify it, I'll always be willing to go a little further than I prefer to be part of a good ride.

    So... Your point is what?

You and I could meet in Tracy, go to Modesto, pick-up any Sacramento riders, and then ride to Gilroy.

To return home, instead of back-tracking, we could hit 5 or 33 through the valley and get off in Tracy.

    There... Problem solved.

Sorry Jim, my bad. I hope you can make it. The fastest way for you to go is through Brentwood and then take the Byron Hwy into Tracy. No freeways, just nice country roads.

Short Notice But Chic Riders have a 2-day ride (that can be done in one day) if you are close enough to join in. SRP will have a party@Santa Cruz Hang Out. 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall Open to all riders with special invites to SCR and xXx

    Saturday Meet-up Times:

1 Sacramento – 7:30am CHEVRON GAS STATION 4800 W Capitol Ave, West Sacramento

    2 Winters – 8:30 am CHEVRON GAS STATION hwy 128 / 999 E Grant Ave, Winters, CA

    3 Navato – 12:30 pm STARBUCKS 132 Vintage Way # F1, Novato, CA

Hot August Nights in Santa Cruz!

2 Day Santa Cruz Ride with Chic Riders!!!

    August 23rd – 24th

A co-sponsored event from NorCal Chic Riders and Sticky Rubber Productions.

Join Nor Cal Chic Riders and SRP on this kick-*** ride to Santa Cruz. There will be minimal freeway time! We'll be riding along some of Nor Cal's most beautiful twisted highways snaking around lakes, windy creeks, beautiful vineyards, coastal mountains and state parks. We'll cross the Golden Gate bridge as a group, eat at the hottest motorcycle spot in Nor Cal and end the ride on the Pacific Coast Highway, with the sun setting over the ocean and Santa Cruz Boardwalk as we arrive. Lots of time for stops and pics along the route

Once in Santa Cruz…Check in and party! But not too hard, we have more riding to do in the morning after breakfast! We'll have a late breakfast to group up and start the day. Then it's off to more twisties. pictures and lunch. After an incredible 1 to 1½ hour tour of the Santa Cruz Mountains we'll hit the freeway (4 to 5 hours) for the rest of the way home to wrap an awesome weekend experience with your motorcycle family!

Newbies. This is not a technical ride, just long. Saturday will be a full day of riding and fun with 5 hours seat time. If you're not accustomed to long rides, get as much seat time as you can before the trip so you're muscles and joints are ready. Then rest 2-3 days before the ride.

The pace. This is definitely not a race. Ride at your own pace, Minus 2 notches! I'll separate the pack as usual, 3 basic groups to keep everyone riding with similar paced riders, but the front will not be riding like it's a track day! The middle group can pass only on straights with lots of room and the last group has no passing. This ride is for the experience, not a trophy or bragging rights. Come prepared to have fun. Be considerate, ride at a very comfortable level so you don't ruin everyone's time by having to wait for a truck to pick up your wreck! Plus, we don't want anyone hurt. And… no tickets!

Gear. It's going to be hot. Everyone is encouraged to wear Jacket, gloves and supportive shoes. Full Leathers will be hot but if you feel more comfortable in full gear, bring it. Bring some casual or nice clothes if you plan to go out, party or whatever. There will be a vehicle to carry our gear @ $20 per bag (round trip). This pays for gas and compensates the driver for all the fun they're missing by driving our stuff instead of riding with the group.

Hotels. There are many bars along Pacifica Ave, along with our SC hang out location. Go online and pick your hotel accordingly so you can walk back to your room. Some people want expensive while some people don't care. Some people are looking to share rooms and split costs. It's all good! Contact E! or Ja9 if you need help finding people looking to share.

Santa Cruz Hang Out. 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall

Sunday Breakfast. No other than the Championship Riders choice for breakfast! Denny's.

Angela was able to get a group rate at the University Inn and Conference Center for this event. She will need a fairly accurate head count though to alot for the appropriate number of rooms. The hotel is approx. 1/2 mile from 99 bottles..our evening destination. So far with the group rate the rooms are running at $174 a night for double occupancy plus tax. It sounds like a lot but that is actually the cheapest i have found in the area. It is about 50 dollars less than other places are asking and if we double up the price is gonna be slightly less than $100 per person. I have made an initial arrangement with the hotel management to hold 15 rooms so find a roomie and call the hotel. The rooms will be held under the name Chic/SCR..

I usually ride with my brother. He picks a direction and we go. I never pay attention to names of roads or how we get somewhere. I can follow a map though. I have been to Tracy Mazda a lot when the wife was getting her RX.

There are some great cabin-y type places up around Mt. Shasta and the Trinity Alps. I like this idea…

The catch is that we rotate areas that we ride in (including initial meet up point) - Northern Norcal, Bay Area, Central Valley. Maybe we designate one person in each region to plan and host. Just thinking, here.
Sorry, I'm working my way from newest to oldest post here.

Alex, this sounds like a great idea. I appreciate you thinking of this.

Okay, now I'll read the rest and won't comment until I finish…hehe

Fort Bragg and Eureka were our favorite parts. We will definitely let you know next time we are headed your way or passing through your area.
    Hey, Hollywood, you're welcome!

Hope to meet you and your girlfriend either here or on the road! We did the June ride in reverse of you. We went east over Hwy 20 to the valley, and up to Corning where we spent the night. Then Sunday up to Red Bluff and west over Hwy 36 to Fortuna and south back to Fort Bragg. Quite a trip over two days! We want to ride Hwy 36 again this summer from west to east, but we're not sure when we will get to do that. Definitely let me know if you are riding this way again.

Also, regarding Alex's ride idea for the Fort Bragg-->Bodega Bay loop, I don't really think of FB as being the starting place. The starting place may be something more central for the Bay Area/Sacto folks, and we might hook up with the group here or somewhere else along the route.

Lol! Well, there is Pinnacles Nat'l Monument. I try to get something along the way that makes the routing interesting, and the remains of an ancient volcano seem to qualify. I have never been there, but the pics look promising. Check out the gallery.
