Anybody ever been the Myrtle Beach Fall Rally in October? Is it really small? Worth going to? Any significant vendor presence like in May? Just curious. Considering it.

It's certainly not as big as the spring rally but there are plenty of vendors and motorcycles. Oh and did I mention that the weather is terrific here in October (barring the occaisional hurricane

Are the main manufacturers there doing demo rides, or just the junk peddlers?

The city of Myrtle Beach has canceled all contracts to lease space in the convention center, will not issue any vendor permits, and has proposed a slew of draconian laws and ordinances. They have also tried to get the county and other municipalities to throw in with them to eliminate the rallies. To their credit the only other municipality that has show any support for this is Surfside Beach. Horry County will continue to issue vendor permits and the event will go on. To answer Dave's question this event is considered to be a major event and in addition to the "junk" vendors the custom bike builders and major manufacturers typically attend.

Myrtle beach wouldn't be trying to get rid of the rallies if they had a county or city tax. i am sure they hate losing all that money they could be earning. of course as a buyer at the rallies i like only paying the 5% state tax only.
i have to say thought personal i don't care for the spring rally, i think there is to much congestion all around. i went to Daytona this year also and they had a heck of a lot better control and free movement down there. and they have more bikes.

That's what I've experienced as well. Cheri and Chaz went down this spring though and said traffic was not a problem at all through the week. it's just the weekend hit, which is when I was there, that's the big problem.
