Default PNW - North Cascade Highway - Wintrop - Lunch Ride - Anyone?

Hey, all of us PNW'rs, we should put a plan in action before the end of the season to hit the North Cascade Highway (SR20) from the Mount Vernon Area up over the hills to Winthrop for lunch and then a return trip. If you've never hit this route, nows the time.

Lets put some thought into this and get something on the books. I normally make 10,000 miles a year but so far this year i've only managed 3000 +/- and I need to do something about that.

ok, discuss....

Great. Just taking some more vacation time. I rode over to Winthrop a couple of weeks back with some buddies. It was great. Really freakin' HOT. How about you? Any good rides lately?

I have just over 300 miles on the 900 already. but its been in iddy bitty Pieces

I have run a few of th eloop rides around here solo, which is nice, but its more fun with at least another rider.

There is one short loop (80 miles) that runs from Albion, north past Colfax, over past Steptoe butte park, East to Oaksdale,( great little place to eat there by the way), south through Garfield, Palouse and then back to Albion.

Another loop around here, is South out of Albion to Pullman, West to the Snake river, and then follow the river up to Lewiston/Clarkston, and take 195 back past Pullman to Albion, (about90 miles). Beautiful views along the river, but last week was not a good time for that ride, it must a been over 100 down along the river valley.

There are several other afternoon Loop rides around the area, so I have lots left to see.

I ride with full leathers, and it was a lil bit on the warm side.

If I knew for sure which ride i was going to fall down on, I suppose I could skip the leathers??? NOT!

I can consider it depending on dates. Course, I'd need someplace to sleep, too. Last two weeks of Sept. suck. This weekend does too. Hate riding on Long holidays. Too many crazies.

Yeah, not exactly overwhelming support. Oh well, give it a little more time and see what happens. I'm heading over the pass in the morning, maybe in the rain....What month is this again???

How far from Portland Metro Area? I might be up for one more long ride before the season is over. Just got back from Sturgis about a week ago.

Rode through Custer Park and Mt Rushmore, through Needles Highway, and up the Devil's Tower run through Wyoming. Was quite a ride. Still recovering.
