Plug-N-Play...how can we live without plugins?

Good for you! It'll be nice to meet you!

Are you going from Jackson Hole up into the park and over Beartooth to Red Lodge?

We're leaving from Fort Collins, stopping in Buffalo for the night on both the way up and the way down. We're going to ride through Ten Sleep Canyon after leaving Buffalo on the way up. That's a beautiful ride. On the way home, we're going to head east over the Big Horn mountains before we head south. Another beautiful ride on a fabulous road.

I don't know that road. Ten-sleep to Buffalo? US-16?

I was going to let time of day determine road I took - if it was late, I'd go via Cody - longer but straighter. I don't want to ride a road like Beartooth in the dark.

Two years ago left Colter Bay at sunrise, went through Yellowstone including an hour stop at Old Faithful. Got into Red Lodge over Beartooth between 4:30 and 5:00.

OK - I'm staring at the map. I can come back via US-14 (Big horn canyon) or US-16 (Ten Sleep). Can't do both.

US-14 looks twistier on the map - but more highway miles after.
US-16 looks more sedate - less highway finishing to Casper.

Suggestions?

i am guessing 40 to 50 lbs. i have never done it before, but i am going to do a dry run to work one day next week and weight the trailer and then the drop leg to see what kind of tongue weight i am running. then i can adjust if necessary.

i would take 14 and either hop on and off 25 to break it up or just blast down 25 to get home. 14 is an awesome road to ride, and very little traffic. there is however a lot of wildlife so be careful, and a good chunk of it is open range, so watch for cows in the road. i will be taking 14 again this year.

I suggest 30-35 unless the trailer manufacturer recommends something else. You might also check the bike hitch websites for possible recommendations.
Mine "isn't there" with 30-35# TW, but it is lighter than yours overall.

We took Alternate 14 on the way home a couple of years ago, Picked up this picture at the top of the grade going east.

Probably take 120 to 20 ths year. Need to make somewhere close to Denver on Monday to have an easy ride Tuesday so I'm not completely worthless (just mostly) when I go back to work on Wednesday..

Looks a bit steeper than 10% grade on the sign.
Gotta love the classic "You Are Here /\ " though.

That would be a great place to just shut the bike off and listen to the wind all the way down. Barb and I did that 2 years ago going down the Chief Joseph Highway. We also listened to all the other V-twins ahead of us echoing around the hills. Pretty kool.

I have done both, if you can only do one, I second US14. Ten sleep/16 is beautiful and fun but has more higher speed sweeper type curves. Last year I took 16 in with Julie and Alan, then took 14 over the Big horns on the way home. I hope to do both again this year, both awesome but 14 is a bit more intense and tight. Just my 2 cents.

Sometime back I said I would be in Red Lodge no matter what; well “what” happened. I’ve gotten myself involved with a beautiful, inside and out, intelligent, fun, sexy, complicated, deep, did I mention beautiful, lady from church. This has become my summer project and I ain’t going nowhere. She has no experience on a motorcycle so I took her for an all day ride Wednesday and she enjoyed it enough to go again in a week or so. This looks promising and she actually likes me; go figure.
