We soaked in the river by Lowell (on the Lolo Pass) 2 years back. Maybe we will have ot take a mid-day dip in the Mighty Columbia this year.

Having a late lunch in gottenberg Iowa, running way behind schedule. GPS isn't working, thank god for the IPhone. Iowa doesn't believe in keeping the same name for any street for very long, that's murder on a bike navigating by IPhone. The Great River road and c9 are great, glad I stayed off the highway. Well, except for the missed streets, thank you Iowa. I'm in Guttenberg, not Gottenberg, not easy to type on a phone.

Perry, I guess you may need to go back to the old fashioned way ... have a map?

Be safe and stay in touch when you can. See you Friday.

I'll raise a glass to all of you, about the same time you'll all be dining at the C.C. Steakhouse. Wish I could be there with you all this year.

All this talk about the heat brings back a bittersweet memory of our good friend Deron. We were riding through Wyoming, and it was so hot that I was starting to get sick. We stopped to gas up at a store that had a walk-in beer cooler, and Deron and I walked in there and stayed for about 15 minutes. Boy, did that feel good!

I have good news to report. Alan's bike is fine. He'll pick it up tomorrow morning. Turns out they aren't even quite sure why it wasn't starting. They think it had something to do with compression. Or something like that. They gave something a few squirts of lubricant, and it's running perfect now. Whew!

Tomorrow morning I'm going to go get my baby out of the storage unit and give her a nice bath. It's been raining every afternoon here in Fort Collins. She's going to get a couple of showers, too, before we leave.

We're meeting Scotty and Danielle on Thursday morning, along with our friends who are first-time Red Lodgers this year. Can't WAIT to see everyone!!!

Perry, where are you stopping in Wyoming? We're going to be in Buffalo Thursday night. Do you still have my cell number? If you're anywhere near, call me!

I still can't believe a month old Garmin GPS can just completely stop working. I got all set to leave this morning and nothing, blank, no response. I messed around for about an hour trying to figure it out, it was fine when I downloaded my routes last night. I had to go back in and redo my routes and send them to my phone, not easy to keep track while driving that way since I don't have a craddle for it. Since it was getting late and I was about an hour and half away from where I wanted to stop and the sky was threating rain, I pulled in to Esterville IA. As I was unpacking my bike thats when I saw that another little mishap has occured, I forget to put a sheet of film over my seat cover to protect it from my bag rubbing on it. I guess nothing a little paint can't fix. After two mishap free trips to Red Lodge for me, I guess something had to go wrong eventually. I still really enjoyed the day, the Great River road route/C9Y was awesome, at least to a flatlander like me.

Julie, I do still have your number. I was thinking I would be in Buffalo thursday as well but can't say for certain. I was hoping to ride in the Black hills and wasn't exactly sure where I would end up or when. I will call if I am, so we can meet up again if you like.

Well, if you end up in Buffalo Thursday night, by some chance, you can ride into RL with us. Sorry your trip got off to such a bad start. Can't wait to see you!
