Default Joe Rocket Suit

Bought these from Newenough.com last week:

Joe Rocket GPX Type R Two Piece Motorcycle Race Suit :: New Enough, LTD

I'm 6 ft, 215. waist 36, sleeve 34, inseam 34 jeans.

I ordered the size 48. Fit was very good. Not too tight, but not baggy either. Very pleased with the suit. quality is very good. It was $485 including shipping.

Joe Rocket leathers are great. I tend to unpick all the stitching and patches where I can, so it mostly says Rocket.

A bit off topic, but what is your Buell like for top end performance? I had thought about getting an XB9SX, but a couple of people reckoned that I would find the top end performance disappointing compared to my Zed 750.

I'm going to take a look at that. I wanted just a complete black look to everything. I had glanced at the patches thinking about your idea.

The power delivery of the Buell is just different. it's more of a linear power delivery. it pulls pretty hard all the way across the tach range, unlike an i4 that has a power hit after revs build up. My 650 is that way. you get a rush at about 7k rpms. The XB9R is more like a stump puller and just keeps pulling and pulling.

I prefer it in terms of usable street power without as much shifting. makes it easier riding curves and having fun. if you're considering it from a track perspective, it would be less potent than your z.

I suppose my question was really also comparing the 984cc Buell engine to the 1203cc one. I had thought about the XB9SX because it was cheaper and I liked the blue Translucent colourway. My friends who have Buells all have the 1203cc engine. The big engined Buells can keep up with my Zed; they reckon the smaller engine might struggle at the top end.

It's odd. The older Z750s were very typical I4s, just like you described, with that kick of power at just over 7,000RPM, but my Zed is a 2008. It has a real smooth power delivery, right from the word go and it just keeps going.

I might try a testride on the Buell. I've ridden a few Ducati Monsters (L-Twins), so it would be good to compare it to them.

I've not ridden a duc, so can't compare that. I know the XB9R is a strong motor. I only imagine the 1200 is WOW-strong. I first test-rode a 9 in Daytona back in 2005. I slipped the clutch just a bit taking off and popped the wheel up, then rode a bit hard into second and brought it up again.

In all honesty, unless you're on the track, I'd expect the 9R to do everything on the streets any other bike will do. As is always the case, it'll end up being more of a factor of WHO is doing the driving than which kind of bike they are on.

No problem. it's hard to describe what the power delivery is like. You just have to try it and see how you like it. Have you ridden any of your friends 1200s???

I'm a bit superstitious about that. I won't ride a bike unless I'm thinking of buying it.

Rent a Harley XR1200. That should give you a similar power perspective. Slightly less, but similar.

I bought a Triumph two-piece race suit about a month ago. I was very lucky indeed and got it in the sales for £100 ($142 USD). It should have been £550 ($779 USD). It is a great suit, though I've only worn it a couple of times. I normally don't do the full Power Ranger look, even when I'm on the Zed. I prefer the retro café racer black with more black look. I got it for doing track days and I want to do the California Superbike School later this year at Brands Hatch.

But for £100, you couldn't beat it, even if I only wear it ten times a year.
