Alpinestars A10 pants

I just purchased a pair of Alpinestars A-10 sport riding pants. Are these things supposed to be as tight as they are??? I mean, I'm used to wearing bicycle shorts but these things were even tighter. The weird thing is the waist is the correct size as is the length. Is this just the nature of the beast? Help?!

I've been running these for a little while. The fit is snug, but just as snug as my leathers. Are you used to wearing high performance pants like this? In my experience, the better the fit, the better the protection.

This is my first pair of sport riding pants. I'm used to the tightness of bike shorts but apparently they've got a bit more stretch to them than these pants.
