Greetings -- I've narrowed down the zillions of options for new gloves to either a pair of Held 'Steve' or BMW 'ProSummer.' Does any one have any experience with how the Held 'Steve' perform on a naked bike when it's hot (say 95 deg. F./35 deg. C.)?
My wife just bought a pair of BMW ProSummer gloves and seems to like them Thanks

HELD makes arguably the best MC gloves on the market. I think both gloves will frustrate you in the heat. The BMW ProSummer gets really hot after about 65-70 degrees. All that just to have a waterproof/breathable lining? I would rather have a goretex overglove for the rain. The STEVE is Held's primo safety touring glove- the emphasis is on safety features-not waterproof. It is probably a 40-70 degree type of glove. Add or take 10 degrees with a liner glove or interstate speed respectively. If you don't want to bake your hands this summer a good HELD glove would be the Air or Air Stream. The Air Stream is max on safety where the Air is max on air flow. BMW's Airflow is comparable but most forums say that the Held's have more safety features and hold up better and are $20-$30 cheaper.

Jodie has a pair of BMW I believe "AirFlows" that she loves, they're her most comfortable glove. They really don't have anything for protection except abrasion resistance. These are her "goto" gloves for anything but frigid temp riding. Sorry no experience with the HELD gloves. We both have BMW gear and it's top notch, yes it's spendy but not overly so. In fact Jodie's BMW boots were less than the Sidi's she was considering.

Thanks very much for your replies. I'll bite the bullet and invest in a pair of Held Steve gloves to start with and then get something cooler in the summer. It'll be interesting to see how they work out compared with my wife's BMW ProSummer gloves.
Thanks again for your insightful responses.

Good luck with your Steve's; they are awesome gloves. Money well spent if you are in the unfortunate situation of having your hands hit the pavement. I just ordered some Held Air Stream's for the hot weather season to replace my cheapy mesh pair. I also got some Outdoor Research Endeavor mitts for the heavy rain. They are well made uninsulated goretex overmitts that fold down next to nothing. Held and Aerostich make lobster claw over gloves but neither are that breathable- although the Stich's used to be. They no longer use Goretex.

Well the verdict is that the Held Steve gloves are really nice to wear and I love them but a bit hot on these summer days. We were so impressed by my Steve gloves that we waited a while until the Held Air Stream gloves were available. They arrived by UPS today and although we've not had a chance to use them they look and feel absolutely fabulous. Can't wait to go riding with them
