I havnt tried actually driving a bike with my school laptop bag, but it holds my laptop(securely), 5 subject notebook, 2 folders, your average textbook, and a charger all in one compartment. Then you have a second "folder organizer" that can seperate like 3 stacks of paper...I dont know how to describe it, and then it has a compartment for pencils, pens, ID cards, tape, sissors. Plus multiple other little pockets, including 2 side pouches and a top "dome" that you cna put like your lunch in. If you want I can try to put some pics up.

It has like 1700 cu inches or somthing, 600d polyester, adjustable shoulder straps and I was absolutely in love with it through my freshman year of highschool, but it did weigh a lot for a backpack.

Backpack - Laptop Computer | Ranger Joe's | Military and Law Enforcement Gear | ACU's, BDU's, army boots, rank, and custom name tapes

awesome site, ordered a lot of stuff and it aint knock-off or surplus. Its brand spanking new

A backpack with adjustable shoulder straps is a must... but the crucial components are a strap that connects the two shoulders straps across your chest (to keep the shoulder straps from separating), and a waist strap... I personally like The North Face!

And he wonders why "altered" pictures of him turn up once in a while!

BTW, The North Face I was referring to is the same one northernman is talking about... the Recon. I too HATE admitting he has any good ideas, but it is what it is!

Get the SWISS Army backpack. That's what I use. It has the cross strap, a ear phone jack on the shoulder so you can listen to your Ipod, and much more.

Well, hard to beat Yoda, but here is the Recon...

Chest strap, hide-away waist straps, adjustable shoulder straps, a large mesh pocket on the back, a CD/MP3 player pouch, earphone pass-through, side water bottle pockets with cinch cords, roll pack straps on the bottom (for a jacket or anything that you want to tie onto the bottom...

PERFECT!!!

Default Mobile Edge

I've been using one of these for about 8 months now; enough room, good padding for laptop, CANNOT be opened while it's being worn, nice padded straps and crossbelt.

SecurePack - Black | Mobile Edge

Good value and quality construction.

YES, I actually just got one this weekend at Target. Under $30, I think it's by Greatland, it only has a symbol on it, a "G" in a triangle. It holds all my work stuff, laptop, and my gym clothes, including sneakers. It also has a cell phone pocket, and holes to put your headphone cords through. It really works great, and the price wasn't bad at all. It even has reflective material on it.

+1 for the Swiss Army Backpack too, the one with the cross strap. Very secure.

Heck, it was so nice my son started using it for his school stuff...so I had to buy another...

Personally, I do not like riding with backpacks, I would rather have a tailpack on my seat/luggage carrier.
One thing though, if you have an off, the large piece of hard plastic that is a laptop can do serious damage to your spine/ribs. Either pack it wrapped in soft stuff like clothes, but better still, carry it in a tailpack.

The coolest backpack i've seen so far would be Icon Squad 2 Military-spec backpack.
The prices are same everywhere so far at USD125. I'm hoping the price will come down a bit.
Cycle Gear - ICON: Squad II Motorcycle Backpack, BLACK
or at Icon Squad II Mil-Spec Pack - Street Bike - Men's Riding Gear - Motorcycle Superstore
I'm not promoting any ONE particular store though i know both are reliable.. Just for pics and info sake, i'm posting both.

I bought the Osprey Daylight pack with hydration bladder & stuff. Then, i got side bags and a top case (without liner bags). Turns out my small day pack is the perfect fit inside the side bags! I can just grab the bag and go. Big backpacks don't fit without stuffing them in, and with the daylite pack I get hydration while riding (if I wear it) for the longer rides.

I lucked out with my backpack fitting the side bags perfectly. Imagine your spine taking on the shape of your backpack at 65mph, and you'll want side bags or a top case.

Good luck
