I'd replace it for sure. It served it's purpose in life! Glad you are ok!
Told a good friend of mine I was going to wear a shorty around town and he yelled at me. He hit some gravel that was swept onto the road he didn't notice and went down doing about 25mph. He said he'd have busted his chin at the least if he hadn't been wearing a full face. Stories like that I keep hearing just make me so wary. ~Fred |

Never liked the modular for that reason, even though they are tested for just that kind of impact. Go with a well known manufacture, full face with good venting, you can't go wrong. I've tested several helmets with my head in them racing MotoX, REPLACE IT!
(what? did you say something? Ronnie, is that you.......................) I see dead motorcycles.............

Always replace the helmet after an impact...you cant tell if the integrity of the shell has been compromised. Now, unless you think your head and brain arent worth the cost...the choice is yours, choose wisely.

Nope
But after a 40mph crash, phase 1 for me would be to collect (new) underpants!

Well not to be a smart a$$ but there is no question here at all. Trash the modular and get a new full face. Its a no-brainer, no pun intended. I mean, a 40 mph impact an you wanna put your head back in that helmet? First get a MRI to check for possible cranium and brain bruising, then get a NEW HELMET. A little tale of modular helmets; for a birthday I recieved a new modular a year ago. Looked it over flipped the visor section up and discovered a loose fastener on one side. This was new from the factory! WTF, that one went back and I paid the difference for a full face. I know that cash flow isn't great for any of us right now but really man, replace that thing. Ride 'em Safe boys an girls, an try not to land on your face.

Duct tape and SeaFoam will restore a helmet to is pre dropped strength, but if you do not like the look of duct tape or the smell of Sea Foam you will need to buy a new helmet.

A question for those of you who denigrate modular helmets.
What type of helmet would you recommend for us old farts who need glasses to avoid that oncoming barn -- an open face? I have yet to find a full face that I could get on or off without having to remove my glasses and then replace them -- a task that was often impossible. |

I have had no issues wearing glasses with my full face Shoei...yes you have to take the glasses off before putting the helmet on or taking it off...but its really not that big of a hassle. Worst part is when the temps start falling below the freezing mark...they'll fog up along with the shield, but unlike the shield, you cant really put any airflow over them ![]() |

I have used all sorts of helmets in my riding. However, the full faced helmets that I have tried made it very difficult if not downright impossible to get the glasses back on once the helmet was in place. I have been using an HJC modular, since I feel it provides better protection than an open face helmet, but I would like to find a full face that I can live with. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My face is broader than the norm, and may be the cause of the difficulty. |

1. Take your glasses off 2. Put the helmet on half way, so the viewport is at your forehead. 3. Slide on your glasses and the earpieces will go over your ears. . You will find it easy to put them on, but the lenses will be up on your forehead. 4. Lower the helmet and glasses together, they will slide into place.

Bear Rider, You have my sympathy. I have a somewhat wide head, a real problem with finding helmet comfort. I use the exact method that OKC Kent describes with an HJC full face, it works perfectly for me. Give it a try, the only thing you might have to do once the glasses slide in place is use a finger to seat them on the bridge of your nose. Good Luck and ride safe.

It's a joke about underwear elves, so I totally get it - without watching South Park...

Who brought birds into this convo....
Glad to see your still here to ask what you should do. My dad has a modular one and idk why he got it. I liked the solid one peice helmet since a lot of damange in a crash is on your jaw portion of the helmet(says the Guide to Proficient Motorcycling" I would replace it without a question
