Default Icon vs. Aplinestars

I like both brands but I'm going to buy a leather jacket for the first time and I'm looking to see which company is better with leather jackets. An insulator would be nice, but aside from that the jacket must be one that's going to protect me when I fall.

So guys and girls, which company is safer for leather jackets, Icon or Alpinestars?

I think alpinestar makes better leathers.

Aren't their leathers softer than Icon though?

I'm not sure which one performs better. But I just picked up an Alpinestar TZ-1 jacket and I absolutely love it.

I'm not sure if they are softer or not, but thats not really a factor. You wanna look at the thickness. 1.1-1.x mm's of leather. The thicker the better.

I just know alpinestar makes track leathers, and icon doesn't. Thats a good indication of quality difference. Not that icon is bad, but I'd pick alpinestar for leathers. (I own an icon mesh jacket, so I'm not an icon basher or anything.)

alpinestars for leathers, it seems to me they have a longer history than icon. i like icons mesh jackets though, they're nice.

anyone here have the airflo jacket from alpine, that's one sweet jacket.

Thanks guys, I have an icon mesh jacket and I'll probably take your advice in taking an alpinestars leather jacket home over an icon.

I own the Alpinestars Stunt Leather jacket and its great quality wise. I would trust it in a fall anyday.

I wrecked at the track once; I'll never wear anything but Alpinestars again - if they made underwear I'd wear it too.
