Default Mutazu GA Hard Saddlebags

There's been some curiosity about the cheap Mutazu bags, I have to admit that all the negative comments couldn't deter my own curiosity. Given the price, I couldn't say no.

It's my first bike, and I intend to use it to commute with, so I needed some utilitarian bags to hold a sandwich, a pair of shoes, a night vest and a map (in case I forget to go to work and head to the mountains). I also wanted bags that were lockable so when I stopped at Starbucks, I didn't have to worry about my sandwich disappearing. If you are considering touring bags, I'd say look elsewhere.

My verdict - they arrived relatively quickly and met my expectations. Granted they are plastic, but at $140 (inc. brackets and S/H), I'd be remiss to say I expected anything more. The website's dimensions listed 17"x12.25"x7.5", and the first thing I did was measure them - they are spot on. I believe a prior post said the GA's were overstated, but looking at the pics that were posted, I think it was actually the FY model (with lights) being referred to as GA's, the FY's have smaller dimensions. And bear in mind that mine are on a 900 custom, size up your ride accordingly.

The locks aren't failproof, but like someone said earlier, they'll keep an honest person honest. The brackets are basic, needed some cutting down with a hacksaw, and included some rubber grommets that dampened the mount points. I had to hit Home Depot for fender bolts, but Mutazu mentions this prior to ordering. Mounting the bags was a hassle, only because trying to gauge what's even/level without someone helping out can be challenging. I haven't noticed any vibrating or other ride-related issues as of yet.

Anywho, here are some pics of them on my 900 custom to give you sense of size and style. First pic upload, hope they actually show up.

They'll get the job done.

My biggest issue with the company is they overstate the capacities. They take the absolute largest outside measurement and publish that as the size.

That's fine if you're trying to verify that you'll have room to mount it, but horrible for comparing to other bags.
Their trunk is advertised as being the same size as the Harley tourpack.
I can put my Mutazu trunk IN my tourpack and close the lid.

They are what they are, and you made an informed purchase. If you don't expect them to be more than they are, there's no reason to be unhappy with them. They're cheap, and they do the job for light carrying needs with a moderate level of security. They're a step up from soft bags.

Yep. I got a lot of insight from your poor experience with these and was ready for the worst, appreciate your thoughts in prior posts. I know they are cheap, and the worst part is if you see me out there, you too will know they're cheap.

I'm a believer in getting gear that fits my needs and only my needs. Someday I'll go bigger and better, fortunately these won't set me back too much when the time comes.

And I have to be honest, they sounded too good to be true (for price), I needed to see them in person or it would've bothered me for a long time.
