I looked into all options for this; glues, hand sewing, paying a seamstress, etc. All these options either produced bad quality in the case of adhesives or a seamstress to sew the patch on through the leather and lining. Or they were really challenging (for me) to hand sew through leather, which is way tougher than I thought it would be. Or for a hundred bucks or more for someone to “do it right” meaning they remove the liner and sew the patches on and sew the liner back in.
Today I went to the local shoe repair shop and they are going to do the top notch job for twenty dollars. Makes sense as they obviously deal with leather all the time and have the equipment for it. For the typical seamstress to do it is challenging and therefore expensive. Anyway, thought I would pass that along. Anyway, in the Monterey Bay area they are: Federico's Drive In Shoe Services 542 Abrego St Monterey, CA 93940-3245 (831) 649-3322
