I don't want to deal with electrics, and the weather is starting to cool. Been reading up and the consensus seems to be that your just going to get cold without electrics.
So thought a bit outside of the box while looking at new firefighting gear... Shelby Glove FDP Elk/Pigskin Fire Gloves w/ Gore RT7100 Glove Barrier, Gold/Black - Free Shipping Online Firefighting gloves are designed to help keep the super high temperatures outside, and your hands cooler inside. That should work both ways though! Going to give these a try in some frigid weather and see how my fingers do. Has anyone already given firefighting gloves a try and have information about them to try? The link above was just to the first I came across, but there are much more fashionable/deterous gloves available.

it won't work..they will provide a barrier of sorts from the wind...but do little for insulating...they do a great job as intended but you'll end up with cold hands...I tried the ones I had skiing and froze then with no wind to speak of....

Wind deflectors or hippo hands to stop the wind, and either insulated/heated gloves, or just good gloves and heated grips. My plan is inexpensive wind deflectors (possibly homemade) along with Semtec's heated grips for around $40, plus a new (mine are destroyed after 4 years of riding and a 40mph slide on the parkway after hitting a dear) pair of Olympia Trailblazer gloves. That combination at less than $100 should keep my hands warm in temperatures as low as I have any real interest in riding (around 20 degrees). I've done short stints at 20 with just the gloves. Adding heat and wind protection should help immensely.
