Default Vega Nitro Touring and Sport Boots?

Looking for my first pair of riding boots and not sure what I'm really after. Having never worn a pair of riding boots before I'm a little lery of dropping big bucks, so I'm looking to start small. Currently riding in a pair of hiking boots, but I don't like the feel - soles are WAY too thick.

These are two boots that fit the budget. Anyone else have either boot? I read somewhere that "sport" boots have thinner soles and they are stiffer. As such the "off bike experience" isn't that great. Can someone confirm?

Vega Nitro Touring Boot

Vega Nitro Sport Boot

Cosmetically speaking - I like the Sport boot better. But I'm more interested in comfort than style.

Thanks!

I think it would depend on the type riding you are doing. I am geting some Sidi boots in tomorrow. look in this section thread boots.

the sole looks the same on those two boots, wouldn't think there would be much difference in how they felt. most of the sportbike guys that I talk to say their boots are comfortable enough to walk around in (maybe not long walks but who walks that much when dressed in full leathers?).

I agree. The sole on the two boots above look very much the same - just a plastic piece on the outside near the toes for an observable difference.
Thanks for the reply.

Personally, I'd go with the Sidi's! I broke my foot wearing Sidi's, but with a lesser boot, I probably wouldn't have a foot!

I have the touring....wear em every day at work for the most part, and whenever I'm on either bike...not bad at all for $75 boots...I replaced the insole with something with a little more cushion since I use them as shoes more than I use them as bike boots

WOW! You guys do realize this thread is two years old! What's funnier is that I just happened to catch it since I don't hang here much any more.

BTW - I bought the Nitro's but the fit was horrible. I sent them back and went with Sidi's and they are still doing just fine. Put about 12k miles on my bikes in the last two years and the Sidi's were along for the ride every time.

I also have Sidi MX boots - now those - at $425 - are EXPENSIVE! But worth every penny (and then some).
