While browsing around Craiglist for helmets, I've noticed a few listed as "Women's" helmets. They don't have any particularly feminine graphics on them ... some were just solid colors, actually. So I was curious what the difference was, if any, in a Women's helmet versus a regular helmet? More room up top for hair, maybe? I don't know.
When picking out ski jackets, my wife informed me that though the looked pretty much identical, her jacket actually had a little more room in the chest than mine did. Same thing when we bought our Trek bikes ... the women's version has a lower upper bar on the frame (apparently so you can ride in a skirt?). So I've found it wise to ask these questions now before just blinding buy items I would consider to be unisex. |

Interesting. I've never come across a helmet designated for women. If you noticed it on Craigslist, my gutt feeling is that the poster put it on as a 'Woman's Helmet' perhaps b/c it's a small size. Otherwise, men and womens' heads have no distinction when it comes to shape like our bodies do- I suspect the poster was selling an XS or S size helmet and put it up as 'Woman's' to catch more attention to sell to a lady.

I asked this question last Friday at a dealership. Was told the only difference in the ladies helmet and men's was the graphics. I was looking at all the ladies graphic helmet and could only find (XXS,XS,S,M), that was why I asked, cause I could not get any of them over my ears....they told me usually ladies have smaller head so they put the graphics on those....well daaaa, I wear a large so the guy told me I got a better pick of helmets, to which I replyed "Only if you don't want a girls graphic". They did tell me I could order my size in the ladies graphic....Oh well, I think I'm going back to a Bell for my new helmet, then I can add what I want to it.

" "Men's" and "Women's" Helmets - What's the difference? "
Well .................................................. ............................................ Men's helmets are owned by fellas and women"s helmets are owned by girls. I am sorry - I couldn't resist. The devil made me do it. I haven't been the same since Chuck kicked me in the head. |

I thought the difference was sizing also. Like women shoe sizing is different than men.
