halooooo everyone......

I just did a ride yesterday where all the places where there should have been mud were crunchy and frozen. There was a little snow here.

The problem was, I didn't think it was going to be that cold. I showed up with a long sleeve jersey and some shorts. Luckily, I found a cycling jacket in my bag and headed out hoping it would all be well enough.

I broke my record of 28F today with 25F!

It's supposed to be nice (55f) later on.

Chaps, gloves, hoodie, leather jacket, boots, and open face helmet. I should have worn the FF.

My riders group like heated gloves and jackets so I just ordered some First Gear heated gloves and jacket. The gloves are purported to be the thinness of summer gloves (which I like for working the clutch) but warm enough for any weather. Will let you know how those work out. For me, I can't wear any neck gear because my helmet fogs up immediately and I'm likely to drive into a wall.

Thats too funny!

I have an HJC full-face helmet with chin curtain and breath box.
That permits me to run almost fog free even with the visor fully closed.

I get a small amount of fog (for some reason) around the right side of my nose area on the visor, and while I cant figure out why - its not bad and only if the temp and humid are perfect.

I am not sure there is a 100% fog free solution short of not wearing a helmet?

Jeans
Tee-shirt
Denim shirt
insulated Carhart Bib overalls
Goldwing Millenium Jacket w/ liner
weather proof ski gloves
and last but certainly not least, Kangaroo leather boots they're insulated and water proof and can be found at any hunting shop.

I just picked up a pair of snowbording gloves and these things are smokin'. Good padding, waterproof, windproof, removable liner, and a heat pack pocket. Can you say toasty!!!! I'm still trying to figure out why an Academy in Alabama had snowboarding gloves, but I'm glad thy did.

Our temps this time of year are around 30. Mid 40 's on a hot day. I wear a Rhyno jacket with zip in liner, chaps, boots, and thinsulite bike glove. Those of us in the northern part of the maritimes dont mind riding in the cold so much. Its the snow and ice that really bums us out.

Long Johns, insulated shirt, denims, insulated work boots, leather coat, light insulated gloves. But I've only rode in 33F temps so far. Will have to see when it gets colder.

I solved the freezing hands thing. Just went ahead and bought some heated gloves from Gerbin. I got the classic gloves and they are great. I think I'm ready for any degree of cold old man winter wants to dish out.

The Balaclava I use is from Demi Design and I can highly recommend it. Its the Ultra Max 150 and is rated to -40 degrees. This one works,,I promise ya!

I found when I wanted to invest in better gear the best way was to wait until wife and neighbors wife were talking outside. I would then walk over to them in my most worn out grubbly looking gear I had. Politely interrupt them and say "Gee dear I think I'm going to run down to the store and get a new Jacket etc: When I get back we'll go out to dinner ok? She in no way wants me to look like a bum infront of neighbors so no arguement. LOL Think I'll keep her another 40 yrs. Cheaper than trading in for a newer model.

well speaking from experience, playing w/ youngins (19-24yo) is only fun for so long. Experience trumps youth ANY day!
