I do think I need a non armored jacket just to wear around... neither of mine are particularly comfortable off the bike...
I agree the armor makes the jackets uncomfortable to wear as just a jacket, but you can take it out of mine. I dropped my bike off for service in the fall, and my wife picked me up in the cage. I got in to drive and left my Joe Rocket Kawi jacket on, and by the time we got home I felt like my back was out of wack because of the back armor. I kept adjusting the seat thinking that was the problem. Dah! dummy me.

I never considered taking the armor out... I might have to do that.... it still wouldn't be warm enough to wear when it's 7F out like it is right now...

Oh man it's cold out there today. The wind is the kicker. these jackets are not for this weather. I tried with turtle fur neck warmers and sweaters, but no good. The Arlen Ness leather is really thick though. I don't feel any cold through that one. '

The Harley leather is the best I've seen. It's thick and warm.

I didn't know Maine had hot days. LOL I vacation every year in Maine but down in the lower region. Kennybunkport area. Love the coast line. There were a few times though that it was really hot. The seabreeze takes care of it though most the times.

99F hot enough?

Next time you're in the port (well actually across the bridge in Kennebunk)... Look for the Kennebunk Savings bank in front of Federal Jack's... I built it.

Im looking for a jacket with armor right now and being the noob I am, what am I getting less of if I go with a cheaper jacket? Are there any deals online I should look at before heading to the local Cyclegear? Or is that a bad idea because I wont be able to try it on first? Thanks

if you're looking to save money, ebay or newenough. I think I paid $125 for my mesh/leather jacket. If you follow the measurement guides, you'll be fine... My Mesh is sized XL and is a bit on the big side of XL.... my Kawi jacket is sized like a proper jacket (mine's a 44) and was pretty much spot on for size.

I have never worn JR...but the Icon jacket I picked up has done me well.....and I keep drooling over their top-end stuff. I might have to gander at some other brands. -S

I have a River Road. Paid $325.00 for it but it is very heavy leather and keeps me toasty warm in the winter. Great liner, smooth zippers. I would like to get a spring, summer jacket but not sure what to buy. I thought Joe Rocket was bad quality but from what I have just read I guess I was mis informed. Maybe a Joe Rocket is in order after all. I am short and a bit large around the chest so it is hard to find a jacket with sleeves short enough.

Sleeves can be shortened easier then lengthened.
