My point exactly. It's like taking parenting advice from a teenager!

There is nothing wrong with riding safe. Body armor and safety gear is a good thing. If you ever lay it down ,you want to keep as much skin on the bones as possible.

Personally I don't get why anyone would want to wear a half face helmet. I have to clean off the visor on my FF every day due to bug splats. And not too long ago I had a guy in a lifted truck with big ole tires throw up a rock and hit the visor pretty hard. If it hadn't been a FF I coulda been in a world of hurt.

That's why they make windshields.

I've tried wearing FF... and I do wear one off road, but only because there is a very high probability that on any given weekend my chin will hit the bars at least once, and an extremely low probability that a cage is going to change lanes into me (well, okay, there's the QuadTards).

FF on the street? Kills my peripheral vision, can't see my speedo without taking not only my eyes but my FACE off the road, etc....
3/4 helmet is marginally better, still gets into my peripheral vision.

I choose to wear FF, leather jacket, leather pants (shift havoc pants - great!), gloves and boots - I don't care if someone has an opinion about my gear - after all, who is going to suffer the pain and trauma if I go down?
Myself, I am kinda partial to my semi-faded, ride creased, bugged-up, super-comfy, leathers... as well as my sometimes stinky helmet(s)
They seem to fit like the proverbial "glove', no matter what the temp (it do get a little warm at stop lights tho'). I use the Jacket everytime I am out, but I sometimes forgo the chaps for heavy denim. I also happen to work with a group of folks who ride, and they ALL wear their gear as well..

I gotta add....... I am not much of a windshield person, but am a FIRM believer in my face shields. Too many Junebugs and Carpenter Bee's in this part of the country this time of year...... They have been known to leave a whelt

+1,000 Especially now that I ride the Nad, with the speedo on the tank. When they are on the bars and you don't have to physically look down to see it it ain't that bad. I won't ride without a windshield, I'm one that doesn't like getting blasted in the face by the wind, or rocks, or bugs, or cig butts, or anything else. The 6" windshield does almost nothing on a sportbike, unless your tucked.

I just ordered a mesh jacket about 5 minutes ago....the longer I'm on here, and from the stories I've read about far more experienced riders than myself, I think it's the purchase I'm looking forward to receiving the most....

I've always rode with FF, gloves, etc....but the heat down here kept me in short sleeves most of the time....

From what people have said....the mesh isn't much hotter than riding without it....so I'll be anxious to try it out....

If you're ever down in my area you'll know who I am.....I'll be the only one with gear on....

Good for you buddy. Hopefully you will never need it, but it will be there should anything happen. Then it will be all worth it.

My textile jacket (GX Air) is quite cool in the summer as long as I'm moving, even with the waterproof liner in it. When it's really hot I'll take it out too.

It is "cooler" because your skin is "in the shade".

All I know is all my chin (and teeth) and half my face and forehead would be missing right now had I not been wearing a FF helmet. I've got 2 half helmets and a 3/4 that are collecting dust right now.

Maybe I should turn them into planters so they can serve a purpose.

The plants will be legal.

I'm thinking jalapeno in one, Greek sweet pepper in one, and oregano in the other.

Wow. I wasn't even thinking that!

More like harassing the zero brain population with their helmets filled with plants!

No, no. Not make the salsa in the helmets, grow the peppers and oregano in the helmets.

You're weird.
