It has a removable liner that is designed to block wind and keep rain out. The first day I wore it, temp was about 70 in the AM and about 103 in the PM. Riding to work in the morning I was actually a little chilled it flows the air around you so well, it was awesome! For sizing, fit it like a suit coat, across the shoulders/chest area. The waist is adjustable with velcor. It does not come with the back plate, but yes, as I recall it can be added.

Take a look at the Tourmaster Air Intake 2 Jacket. It has a really warm layer along with another nylon layer. After those are off, it is a great, perforated summer jacket. Great padding, great in summer!

My wife and I both use the Intake jacket. It is cool in the summer, water proof with the first liner installed, and warm with the Thinsulate liner in also. I have, many times, worm it to work with one or more of the liners installed in the morning in 30* weather and took them out for the afternoon ride home. I wear mine even in the heat of summer 90s plus. It only took me one time misjudging a hairpin curve in the mountains laying my baby down to realise I need to wear my gear all the time. So, I wear the black intake.

Well, I finally found what I have been looking for. Originally before I ever start drooling over the leather jackets, I was seriously drooling over the Cortech GX-Air, but alas they had been discontinued. However, I was out riding around during lunch today and stopped by one of our local small cycle shops. Hiding right there on their jacket rack was one last GX-Air in my size. I tried it on, it size perfect and out came the AMX card. Best part about this jacket is that is has a separate water-proof and thermal zip out liner. So now I am covered for all four seasons!
Thanks everyone for your assistance and excellent suggestions.
