Default Summer Leather?

Hey all,

I currently am wearing one of the Joe Rocket mesh jackets (the Phoenix) and while it's OK, I am seriously considering a perforated leather jacket, and since I do live in the South, it gets a little (a lot) warm down here. So, does anyone have suggestions for a leather jacket that is tolerable in Summer heat? Here are some of the ones I am considering.

Cycle Gear - ALPINESTARS Stage Leather Motorcycle Jacket BLACK: Stage Leather Motorcycle Jacket, BLACK

Cycle Gear - ALPINESTARS Black Label Spinner Leather Jacket BLACK: Black Label Spinner Leather Jacket, BLACK

Cycle Gear - FRANK THOMAS Titanium Pro Leather Motorcycle Jacket BLACK: Titanium Pro Leather Motorcycle Jacket, BLACK

Cycle Gear - FRANK THOMAS Velocita Leather Motorcycle Jacket BLACK: Velocita Leather Motorcycle Jacket, BLACK

Cycle Gear - FRANK THOMAS XTi Leather Motorcycle Jacket BLACK: XTi Leather Motorcycle Jacket, BLACK

Cycle Gear - ICON Merc Leather Motorcycle Jacket BLACK: Merc Leather Motorcycle Jacket, BLACK

Anyway, your suggestions are much appreciated!

I can't recommend one as I'm looking too...but your choice of black seems to defeat the purpose?

Thanks for your reply and point taken, but unless I want to buy something in leather that makes me look like a NASCAR driver my choices in colors are somewhat limited.

The first one would be my choice if they had a size that would fit me. But as always is the case, they don't. Here's to hoping you find one that you like, so you will wear it.

Can't help ya etiher, but was going to post a similar thread today.. The jacket I have is becoming to hot for even my morning commute.. Let alone when headed home in the Az afternoons.. Curious why your mesh isn't making ya happy? Is it just the color? Or does it have a lot of heat retention as well?

Thanks and I appreciate your input. I already wear a Joe Rocket mesh jacket and it's ugly as sin, but I still wear it. Just gotta look good too!

I think it is ugly as sin, but it does breath pretty well, as long as you are moving anyway. My big grip is the sleeve cuffs. It is basically just velcro and it pretty flimsy. Also, I would kinda like to have a jacket that is a little more versatile. One that is cool in the summer, but can add additional liners for when it turns cold or wet. Most of the jackets I provided links to have multiple layers and would fill that multi-season void.

Excellent :} will have to check those links when I get to a computer :} I'm looking for something that I can add or subtract layers to as well, so that might work for me as well.. Though I'm leaning toward safety colors. Though a black and silver wouldn't be bad :}

All those look good to me. It would be hard to choose. I guess it just depends on what floats your boat. As for price, I would take a look at New Enough Motorcycle Apparel sells motorcycle jackets, pants and suits, boots, gloves, helmets, etc :: New Enough, LTD They have a great return policy. If it don't fit or you don't like it, they will pay the return shipping for a full refund or exchange.
Currently, I am useing a Tour Master Intake mesh jact and find it to breath very well. The wind just blows straight through it. I know it's not leather but it dosent look like a NASCAR driver either.

I had forgotten about New Enough, so will go and browse their site.

I have taken a look at the Tourmaster Intake jacket at one of our local dealers, and I have to admit, it is very nice. While it is not leather, it sure has heck doesn't look or feel cheap either. I guess I should take another look at Mesh and the Intake jacket.

Thanks!!

Scorpion makes some awesome looking and very versitile gear I am getting the Hattrick in red because I want something that is 4 season. They have many choices, I like the perferated leather Sting jacket and the burnout jackets are mesh with armor in it. Here's the website Scorpion Sports © 2004-2008
Kelly and I have been trying stuff on from them and she is getting the Dahlia jacket in white and both of us noticed there stuff runs a bit small I wear a XL in 99% of jackets (and shirts for the most part) and she usually wears a small or XS in most things but in the Scorpion gear I wear a 2XL and she wears a Medium. Hope this helps!

The Scorpio jackets are pretty nice, but they are pretty pricey and not too thrilled with the design. They do make some nice stuff though.

Right now, I am learning toward the Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 Perforated Leather Motorcycle Jacket :: New Enough, LTD. It is pretty much what I am looking for, simple in design and not festooned with gobs of patches.

Jusy got my Hat Trick delivered today...fits great! I love the look. Went with black/yellow! I have used a Scorpion helmet for 3 years, so I had to give their jackets a try. I love the flexibility of this jacket even with the armor!

Nice choice. It's good quality and fair price. Still, a lot of money. But, you'll get your money out of it cause it will last for years. Here's one more option. I don't know if they have perferated leather but, you can check. Their prices are outstanding and service has always been great for me.

For summer I wear a mesh jacket from First Gear; about $110. It is amazing how the air flows through that thing! Silver w/ black trim.

When it's below about 85F, I wear a black leather jacket from Highway One.

Both of these, as well as my Icon boots were bought at a local Cycle Gear store. They are great about ordering stuff, exchanging for correct size without passing the shipping charge onto you, etc. Like a lot of sellers they seem tipped towards dirt bike riders and their selection of classic, but not-too-many-buckles, gear is less than I would like. What they have is good, and their service and attitude exceed my expectations.

I too have been pretty impressed with the folks at Cycle Gear. Their prices aren't bad and I do like the idea of being able to try on gear before I plunk down my cash. Really not a bad place to shop and worth comparing prices at. Just wish they had a little more cruiser related stuff, but what they have is nice!

I can't speak to the perf'd leathers but I can recommend the First Gear Mesh-Tex line. I live in AZ, though we don't have the humidity you likely get, we do get damn hot. So far, since I have had it, we have had two days right at or over 100 and it was wonderful riding with it, as long as you are moving. No jacket is going to be all that great when you are sitting still.
