Default River Road Women's Mojave Mesh Pants

Hi, I just received these pants today. the retailer sent me the wrong size, which is fine, but I'm curious if any women have any experience sizing these pants.

I normally wear anywhere from a size 4-8 depending on manufacturer in street clothes (also depending on how much I weigh at the time - right now I'm on the heavy side). Based on recommendations, I ordered a size up and got a size 10. They sent a 12, which I'm swimming in, even with jeans on (I could easily fit a small child in there with me).

I'm a little nervous about going down two sizes though - I don't really like the hip armor, but tried them on with it in and out. I tried them on with the liner in both times. I also put a pair of jeans on underneath, both with and without armor (always with the liner in). There's about an inch of extra fabric on both sides.

I wouldn't normally care too much about this except that shipping is expensive from this particular place. The other problem is that they come up pretty high on my waist - way past my belly button, so I'm not sure if these will even be comfortable to ride in.

Any thoughts, opinions, experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I got River Road gloves, labeled W's XL, and they really should be meds.

My pants are similar to those, by another manufacturer. They were labeled Large, but i wear 10-12. Am i Large now?? But they fit just right on most days. But the waist is kinda adjustable. I do love 'em, has quilted liner, so for my area 3 seasons. ( Fall , winter, spring)

Heres a size chart i found for River Road, but for tops only. I guess see how close those sizes are to normal top sizes, and same goes for the bottoms??

If they sent you the wrong size, why are you paying for shipping? All costs for replacement should be handled by the company you bought them from.

I've found my pants (I'm a guy, so take this as you may) come up high in the waist. I don't have a problem with this while riding. The point is to get them under your jacket so you have some protection from the jacket riding up in a fall (in addition to having a zipper attachment). Seeing as most jackets run high in the waist, the pants tend to ride high to compensate.

I would also make sure what you buy fits without the liner. I bet you'll be riding without the liner more often than with and the liner will add some padding. You don't want stuff flapping around while on the bike.

Yup - they are great - I sent the return request through their site and they were kind enough to send me a direct line to call back. I explained my dilemma about the sizing and they are sending me both the 8 and the 10, no charge and no shipping charges and I can return whatever doesn't fit - woohoo!

Uthor - I wasn't concerned with exchanging them and paying shipping - I already knew they wouldn't charge me shipping to mail them back and have them send a new pair. I just didn't want to have to order both sizes and have to pay to return one of them, since I still wasn't sure. They were nice enough to send both and not charge me for the extra pair of pants.

Ruh Roh - I can call them back and let them know they have a guaranteed sale on those 12s and see how they'd like to handle it - maybe they'll email me a shipping label to mail them to you - save us all some time and money. These pants are awesome quality - the knee armor is really more like knee and shin guards, but really comfy. And there's room in the gut if you want to ride preggers...lol...don't worry, it's totally adjustable.

I go into the stores to try on the pants to find the right size in the brands. Then I order them online (cheaper) newenough.com has a fit chart for a bunch of brands and they have the girls in the office try them on for photos so you can see how real people look in them. Where did you order from?

Yup - I got the New Enough deal - I'll let you know how they fit me - if the 8 works for me, you may want the 10's and who knows, they may be sold out of those too by then. They're due to arrive on Saturday - can't wait!

I wore my Stiletto jacket today and it was awesome - I got some great compliments on it already. The waterproof liner is totally not breathable though and I had to do a bit of walking in it , so was sweating my butt off.

My wife and I bought a pair for each of us from New Enough. I don't remember the name brand but they came in looking like brand new never been tried on in plastic. We were very excited. On a bad day, she wears an 8 so she got a 10 and she could not get one leg in. It was maybe a size 4 thou it said 10. I wear a 34w32L which should be a Large according to their size chart. So, As I wanted to have the option to wear pants or shorts under mine, I ordered X-Large. The pants said X-Large on them but I could not get one leg in them without pants on. New Enough sent me a return shipping label and refunded my money promptly. I wish I knew how to order the right size on-line because they have some great prices. I guess You could just keep ordering them and returning them on their dime till you get the right ones.

I can't say enough good things about New Enough. We got a potentially defective Nelson Rigg cover - we've purchased the previous model, which is supposed to be identical and they've done everything imaginable to determine the problem and help us replace it - on their dime. They are also sending me two sizes of pants, at no additional charge, so I can figure out the right size of pants.

GD - I usually have the problem that you and your wife experience - needing to go up a few sizes (in pants especially). I was pretty surprised that these seemed to be overwhelmingly large. I'm excited to receive the new ones on Saturday and will let everyone know how I made out .
