after a week of 100*+ days and spending 90 min a day on the bike, I can say...the Joe R 4.0 is a great jacket, its a little"sporty" as far as the looks go, but for under$60 has a waterproof mp3 pocket, adjustable arm thingys, it works more than fine.
I picked the red to be seen, I picked the jacket period because it had the CE in the elbow, shoulder and back....the rest is icing on the cake

Just bought this jacket and I love it. Very light, wind goes right through so it kept me cool. It's 82 right now but I was very cool wearing only a t-shirt and the jacket. Will definitely carry a long sleeve shirt in case when I'm out the temp drops but this is going to be my summer riding jacket. I bought a large and its a little big on me but I 'm not going to return it.

Any ideas or comments on this?

Hi all... guess where i went today....

to a motorcycle shop to check out mesh jackets

I looked at icon (not interested)

and the new joe rocket phenoix 5.0

Let me tell you that phenoix 5.0 is very nice and comes with a liner for rain HOWEVER, it is 149 at the store.

HACKER..... so whats the situation man did you try your new coat yet?

i am torn between the joe rocket (i love joe rocket stuff) or the one hacker said, i have to go look at that one again, I also was checking out gloves... alpine stars seem to be the people for hot weather gloves

Mercury, I answered this post in your "Riding in hot weather" thread, but I left out one thing. In response to your question about hot weather gloves, I wear the "River Road Sturgis" gloves and they're really nice. Not a lot of padding other than the gel pads in the palm, but they fit nice and snug and if you have any vibration at all in the bars, the gel blocks it.

thanks for the info.... ill check into that joe rocket 4.0 if it comes with a liner ill rather get that one if otherwise they are pretty much the same

the joe rocket 5.0 that i tried on at the store seemed hard to put on and the liner did not feel right. but it was really hot in the store so everything was sticky

Hey on your gloves, do they fit snug? Cause XL usually does it for me but some xl gloves fit very tight

i almost bought the same tour master last night but i am worried that it isnt going to fit me well. i am about 5'11" but only about 140 lbs (soaking wet). i have long arms so i am worried that a small will be too small and a medium will be too baggy. this is my first jacket, any advice?

I'm just about 5'10 and 155lb and the large is just a little big on me. Go with a medium, the arm length will be better for you on it than a small. I had to wear a long sleeve shirt coming home from work this morning because it was nice out, but with the wind I was actually cold. the long sleeve shirt made it just right. I love this jacket but it's a warm to hot weather jacket.

I wear the joe rocket reactor 2.0 jacket which is perf leather and mesh with armor, its does good on hot days, def better then my regular leather jacket. I also wear alpine star air carbon gloves which are also perf leather and mesh. The mesh keeps you cool and I like having the leather still just incase.

i bought the jacket yesterday in small because the lady at my local shop said it would fit. If it doesnt fit whenever they ship it here i will just sell it to my friend and order a medium. I wish i would have saw your reply before i bought it lol! i think either way i will be happy with it!

go to: New Enough Motorcycle Apparel sells motorcycle jackets, pants and suits, boots, gloves, helmets, etc :: New Enough, LTD

at the top right of the page in the category list you'll see "CLOSEOUTS" highlighted. Click there, then click on "Mesh Jackets and Pants". The Joe Rocket 4.0 Phoenix is on the first line.

Take a look at the Kawasaki site under accesories. There are mesh jackets there for $50. You have to order from your dealer. I got one for my wife and I on there several months ago. Mine was $60, and has leather on the top of the shoulders and sleeeves. The wifes is all mesh, and was around $50. The model I got is no longer on there. The ladies is the Flow Mesh jacket. Great closeout deals. They are made by Pilot. Pilot USA It has been 100 degrees with too much regularity here lately, and the only place that gets warm is the center of the back where the armor is. That is removable if you wanted.

I've been VERY happy with the Mojave mesh jacket produced by PowerTrip. I have firsthand experience that this jacket works, and well. After two years with the latest one, however, the zipper went haywire. Will be trying a TourMaster Flex 2 jacket, but something tells me I'm gonna be glad I asked to have the zipper replaced on the Mojave jacket...
