Right now I have a Fieldsheer "Drifter" that isn't the most comfortable item in the mid 90 weather/heavy humidity we're having here in NW Tennessee right now. I found this jacket and it looks quite a bit more "porous" in the mesh than the Fieldsheer, although it's not vented like the FS is.

I owned the red one and sold it and recently bought the black one. i personally love it and have worn it in 90 degree temps. As long as you are moving you get a big amount of wind going through this jacket. Standing still is also ok since its not bulky at all. I have also owned 2 other tourmaster jackets and use the jett series II jacket for winter temps. They make some really good jackets.

Looks like a good price. I have a Joe Rocket GX-Air that looks similar and it's fine in the summer with the windbreaker liner in. I take it out when it gets real hot.

I don't see it listed that it comes with the liner. if not, you can find other jackets at comparable prices that include the liner.

You're right, it doesn't come with a liner. I spoke with the people at New ENough and they carry a liner for a Joe Rocket that will fit it if I decide I want it. Check out their closeout page at NewEnough. They have a Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0 ('07 Model) that they're selling for the same price as the Tour Master, complete with waterproof liner. I was all set to buy that one until I got a look at the lower back panel on that jacket. That large "ROCKET" across the lower back just ruined it for me. I'm not into gaudy......and that's gaudy with a capital G ![]() |

I have a first gear mesh jacket, but above 90 it still isn't cool enough. I bought this one at cycle gear and it is really comfortable and cool enough in 95 and above weather. Thin, good padding, but I don't think the mesh would hold up in a bad fall. Anyway, it is better than a tee shirt and it is only $59.

Looks to be similar to the Tourmaster Intake. I have been riding with one for 2 years now. LOVE it.
It was 102 yesterday, as long as I was moving it was fine. Incidentally, the Intake has 2 liners. A wind breaker and a quilted. They may fit the other Tourmaster jackets

This is a good quality jacket with good armor. Vanson Leathers Motorcycle Jacket - NEW VENT MAX |

Hi all... i am watching this thread cause over the weekend i found i have the same problem, too hot = too hot with the jacket i have
I feel like i need to wear gear, so tee-shirts out riding are not my thing. I want a light weight jacket that would protect me in a crash but it needs to let air flow through If anybody has the ones they like - just let us know... I have a joe-rocket for the winter and it is great, i just bought some first gear rain gear jackets and they seem nice too, just dont know who to go with for a lighter jacket and also some light gloves too.... my gloves are too heavy I have winter gear and i have 80 and below gear, but above 80 - 85 i do not have the type of gear necessary for hot riding. Also.... do the people with mesh jackets find themselves de-hydrating quick? I know i do not de-hydrate too bad on my leather coat in the heat cause the wind does not take the "sweat" off the skin so quick. just wondering, thanks all kenny

MErcury, my Tour Master was just delivered. That thing is amazing. It's armored in the elbows and shoulders and padded in the back. The rest of it you could almost read through it. I'm absolutely certain that this is going to be a dang good hot weather jacket. Like you I don't like the t-shirt deal but I've been riding that way due to the soggy heat here in Tennessee. Check my link in the original post to see the jacket I bought.

"Is it too hot"?
Can't say since I haven't had it outside yet, but based on holding that jacket to the light and being able to practically read a book through it, I'd say that it will be almost as good as wearing just a t-shirt. "Is it light"? Compared to my Fieldsheer Drifter, it hardly weighs anything. But then this jacket is not armored/padded nearly as heavily as the Fieldsheer. You have CE grade armor in both elbows/shoulders, and the usual pad in the back. "What color"? I got the red as my 900 LT is the CandyRed/Titanium. After seeing the actual jacket and seeing how light it is, I would most likely order the plain black if I bought another one. If you haven't done so, go back to the NewEnough website and scroll thru all of the closeup photos of this jacket. You'll get an idea of the size of the mesh. In their "closeout" section there is also the Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0 for the same price. Haven't seen one of those, but it's a well thought of brand if just a bit gaudy for me. However, it comes with inserts for warmth on cooler days. I'll post here again as soon as I'm able to try out the new jacket. It's raining right now so most likely tomorrow. |

Well, you're right.......I most likely shoulda got the black one, but I wasn't sure how warm it was going to be. Wore it yesterday in 85 Degree heat. BIG difference from the Fieldsheer. It keeps the sun from frying your arms while letting tons of air into/through the jacket. Good price, great product.
