Hmmm...think this is going to stimulate a conversation on semantics. One needs to define the word TEXTILE before the question can be answered.
A common definition of TEXTILE is – 1. A cloth, especially one manufactured by weaving or knitting; a fabric. 2. Fiber or yarn for weaving or knitting into cloth. So, any woven fabric, including mesh, is textile. Leather of course would not be considered textile. So, the question might be – Which is better for hot days – mesh or solid (non-mesh) textiles? If this is the question – my vote goes to mesh!

I wear a part mesh/ part solid textile jacket here in AZ. It's still pretty darn hot even travelling at 75mph. The mesh just lets the over 108 F air get at me faster.
I used to ride with a solid textile jacket with lots of vents in Ca, and it was bearable even when the temps hit a whopping 95 degrees...I guess it just depends on your heat tolerance...or if you can handle riding with a wet shirt. |

im wearing textile gear (Icon Arc pants and jacket) in Mississippi and its getting pretty muggy and hot now. i sweat a bit, but im normally comfortable unless im not moving for a bit. my shirt and pants (underneath the Icon's...theyre overpants) soak up my sweat and when i start moving again the airflow cools me off so its not a bad trade off.
i like my stuff...mesh would probably be cooler though, especially for New Orleans weather.

TRUE.....and is that not what this thread was asking?
What is cooler between Mesh and Textile? If so hands down mesh is cooler. In Kamloops heat you would die in a textile sauna, eerrrr I mean jacket.

I just got home from 2300 round trip (with temps from 50 - 105) and debated which jacket to take. I ended up taking the textile and was glad.
With the vents open and evaporative vest, it was like riding "in the shade". And when the air temp inside my jacket is lower than the air temp outside, it is cooler to keep more air out. And i got no sunburn. It is still hot at stoplights. And i will wear the mesh on shorter trips around town here at home.
