i can hope that not one person on here wears them. and as was stated the law probably says a DOT approved helmet, so just wearing a novelty helmet would still get you a ticket if you were caught.

better to be safe than sorry IMO. i am all for people being free to choose if they want to wear one or not, but id rather everyone wear a good helmet as the minimum of protection.
