Hey everyone, this is my first post on here and I don't want to sound like a total newb (been riding for about 5 years now, so I sorta still am). But I gotta know who on here rocks the novelty helmets.
Here in Virginia where I live you have to wear a helmet at all times. I'm going to get a little Voss shell helmet to wear instead of the mushroom looking shorty I have now. So, who else wears em? |

While my wife says my head is as thick as a stone, I don't consider my noggin a "novelty"........so I personally will stick with a DOT approved helmet when I ride.

I'm not a big fan of helmets and so if I am gonna wear one I'll wear one that is dot approved. I'd bet that the law in your state mentions something about dot standers and the the novelty helmets don't satisfy the law.

Wear whatever you want, or don't wear anything. Why do you need validation from anyone here? Why not get a football helmet without the grill on the front like in Easy Rider?

I don't get the appeal when there are DOT approved half helmets out there. I mean, as long as you have to wear one anyway, why would you not want some protection?

Don't understand the appeal? I guess I don't understand the appeal of spending thousands of dollars on your bike to make it look good just to look like a wheenie riding it. |

So here's the deal.
DOT helmet. Period. A few years ago I held a kid's broken head in my hands and his brain was leaking through my fingers. I'm no weenie, but I cried on that one. Get a decent lid, man. t. |
