I would appreciate advice on jackets and pants for temps from 40-50. I currently wear a First Gear Mesh jacket and pants and will need something different for late Sep and Oct.
I'm looking for: 1) Easy to wear over your street clothes 2) No air flow through and waterproof 3) Seals around the neck, wrists and waist 4) Easy to get on and off I'm looking closely at the First Gear Killimanjaro jacket as it's longer and seems to meet most of my requirements. Some inconsistency in quality has been reported with the First Gear products so I'm looking for alternatives as well. Thanks |

For those temps I wear my leather jacket and chaps. I'm still looking for an affordable pair of gloves for cold riding.

I was planning to winterize my bike but your comment has me thinking that maybe I will ride it occasionally through the winter. It was a bit chilly this morning. I had the mesh jacket on with a fleece, zip-up jacket underneath and the wind was coming through. My hands were fine with the summer gloves but the rest of me was not happy. |

They may have some longer ones I'm not sure. Might be cause for a ride down to one of their stores. LOL I ride to work every morning (3-4a.m.) and will do so until the snow starts. There were enough warm days last winter to take the bike out several times. I'm sure we're a tad colder and a little more snowy on the western side of the state. If I remember right there was only one month that I really didn't take the bike out ( Jan or Feb) but like I said if there wasn't snow on the roads or ice I managed to go for some short rides. (hour or so).
![]() I figure the savings on insurance wouldn't be that much really so I keep it ready to go yr. round. Just never know when a nice day will happen. Only problem I've had is keeping my hands warm enough in the winter. May have to go with heated gloves later. You do get the looks though when you're riding between snow banks. LOL |

So during periods like Jan or Feb when you go for weeks without riding do you do anything other than starting the engine occasionally to charge the battery? I'm assuming that you have it garaged, whereas mine is outside under cover.

I have a battery tender for it. Didn't use it last year. I went out at least once a week and started it also there was only one month that I didn't take it out at all to ride. The rest of the winter months I rode a couple times at least a month. If you have a place to plug in a battery tender I'd suggest that since it's stored outside. Mine is in a detached garage unheated.

Yes, they ran true to size. I bought mine at the local BMW dealership so I was able to try them on instead of buying over the internet and then being surprised. I had to get the pants legs hemmed, but the lady that did the alterations did a great job and you can't tell they were worked on.

I have a Kilamanjaro. It's pretty nice, but not super-warm, and it's pretty bulky as well.
Check out the Cortech flex jackets. Very cool design. I have Cortech's caliber pants. love em.

I have the adventure pants and aqua sport jacket. I have rode in 30 degree weather without the liners in and was comfortable, I have a little problem in the neck area but nothing I can't live with. They are hot over 70 degrees. Work very well in the rain. With the liners in I guess you would be comfortable in the coldest tempatures. I'm very happy

Roadie1951 and Lynn:
When you wore your Adventure pants, were you wearing them over your street pants and how difficult were they to get on and off? I've heard some comments that the waist sizes were tight when ordering by the size chart. Thanks |
