Default GLX Helmets

So I bought one of the cheaper helmets in the shop a few months ago and now I know why it was so cheap. The padding on the forehead is already fully compressed and it press's on my head hard enough to give me a headache and hurt like a b!t$#. Anyone ever attempt to shave down the shell underneath the padding? I'm prob just gonna wind up buying a new helmet but I would rather wait until next year.

I wouldn't advise changing anything in the formation of the helmet other than what is intended to be changed (cheek pads and visors are the only things I can think of). Shaving down the inner shell may adjust how the helmet handles in the event of an impact, and isn't worth the risk to me.

Put simple: I'd rather spend another $250 and be able to trust my helmet, then halfass a repair job to make it fit me better and compromise my safety. I think my head is worth WAAAAY more than $250

I agree, I was just trying to find an easy way out until next season. I don't think it is a matter of the helmet being too small, I think I just got what I paid for. I've tried to put some padding between the helmet and my forehead but it doesn't work verywell. I commute an hour to work everyday and about a half hour into the ride I just want to ditch the helmet.

yep....whenever I get a new helmet, the forehead area always seems to give me too much pressure. I take a small hammer to it to compress the styrofoam underneath it just enough to take the pressure off. I tap a little and try it. When I get it to a comfortable point, then I ride for a while with it and tap again if necessary.

I didn't think of that, but I will try over the weekend. The helmet is actually about three months old, it just satrted giving me the discomfort a few weeks ago. I guess the padding started to compress.
