I just ordered a Joe Rocket Meteor 6.0 jacket and pair of Joe Rocket Ballistic 7.0 pants from DSR powersports. This is kinda late but has anyone had experience with these items?
Thanks |

I have JR and it seems fine, my brother said that brand is crap and that the seams blow out, so I guess only time will tell.
Mine is quite comfortable and fits well, but now that the temps are dropping (I do a lot of night riding) it isn't cutting it, even with the liner. I just ordered a heavy leather jacket and I'll save the JR for warm weather. |

The gear itself has been fine overall. I've a Meteor 5.0 & Alter Ego pants. The pants are a bit thin & cheap at the bottom of the leg but I wear full boots so it's not an issue.
The only issue I have, most of which developed recently, are the zippers. The inside zipper on my Meteor stopped working right a couple of months ago. The external one is still fine so not too big a deal but I think the inner one is supposed to help keep water out (and I have ridden through heavy rain, it worked then). The left leg zipper on my Alter Ego's started to go and finally went a couple days ago. And man it went. Not only did it stop zipping but a couple days later the zipper itself essentially just disintegrated. I still ride with 'em using the velcro on the bottom to hold the ankle closed (when it holds) but it's annoying. Tailor shop here wants $60 to put a new zipper in. I'm hoping to get my new leather ones in the next couple of months, I'll probably suffer without the zipper 'til then. Edit: Had the zipper put in anyway, it's a lrger heavy YKK metal one that should last. He also tossed in a rubber patch on the lower left leg where I melted it on a hot exhuast. They're a hair more snug now on that leg but still fit well, I'll probably have him do the other one as well. I've also had the outside zipper on the jacket replaced by 'em with a YKK as it broke and nearly trapped me in the jacket. :CP So yeah, if you ride a lot expect to have to replace the zippers at some point.

Some of the Joe Rocket leather jackets held up better then all the jackets in Cruisr magazines test. They use really good leather that really resists abrasion. That was quite the award considering the compitition involved Harley leather jackets, and all the leading names.

I received the Meteor 6.0 jacket (the pants are on back order) and so far it has been a good experience. I was surprised at how heavy it was. I removed the liner and my first morning ride to work (4 miles) was a bit cool. The temp. was in the upper 60's. I was wearing a long sleeve cotton work shirt and the jacket. I think it would have been OK with the liner. That afternoon when I left to come home the temp was in the middle 80's. I opened the vents in the jacket and went for a 30 min. ride. I was quite comfortable. The jacket has been stiff and I hope it loosens up with use. All in all I am pretty satisfied with the initial performance of the jacket. I'll have to wait and see how it is on the long term durability.

I have The JR "Rocket Nation" leather, JR Textile Corona, and a set of GPX 2.0 Gauntlet gloves. I actually went down while wearing the Textile one and it did it's job. opening of the sleeve had a small hole worn through but the jacket is still wearable.
The Leather I have no issues with and it is surprisingly warm in the winter and in the summer it breathes well. The GPX 2.0 gloves only issue I has was some stitching came out where the velcro closure was I did a simple stiching fix and havn't had an issue since. I'm looking at the all black JR Kawasaki ZX jacket. Probably buy it this winter after Christmas. Last edited by SilverBullet : 09-28-2008 at 06:28 PM. |

I have that one, matter of fact I'm wearing it in my profile pic along w/ my JR leather pants.. I can't remember the model (of the pants), & it's listed no where on them. Anywho, I love my joe Rocket Gear and the leathers have held up quite well in the year I've had them... This is my primary gear, all joe rocket w/ the exception of my Shoei helmet.. ![]()

I've the JR Sonic gloves. Not sure but think they're discontinuing 'em which is sad. They're leather but cool in hot weather. In really cold weather they could use a liner. They're comfortable and only take a day or two of riding to break 'em in. The knuckle armor fit surprisingly well. The only things I have a slight issue with is it seems some of the underlying material is working out from under the seams a little and the leater over the knuckles is losing it's black color fading/wearing to an odd dark tan. These are my second pair, the first I had accidentally dropped of my old bike doing about 40 (forgot to put 'em on after fixing something on the bike >.< ) and the just had a slight abrasion on one's knuckle. I replaced 'em because my roommate's dog decided to pull 'em off the table to use as chew toys. They were stil almost wearable after that.
I'm not a fan of a lot of 'em now but I rather like the look of the Akuma ones coming out so waiting to see how those fit.

That isn't the same jacket I'm talking about. It looks like you have the KAwa Factory Racing replica leather. This is the new ZX JoeRocket.com This is the other jacket I currently have. I have it in Gunmetal. JoeRocket.com |

I was in a nasty crash wearing JR Phoenix mesh jacket and pants.
Destroyed the gear, but it saved my skin. Only burned a quarter sized rash on my knee where the pad slipped. I bought another outfit, because the price is right, it works and is comfortable to ride in. |

Speaking of Joe Rocket jackets. I noticed that most all of the JR jackets have some form of name and/or number designation. I just bought a used JR jacket on e-bay and the person I bought it from could not tell me the name. Anybody know how to identify a JR jacket?
