Robb,

I just got a pair of these TourMaster gloves. Since I'm in North Florida, haven't had the occasion to wear them yet but I'm really impressed with the construction and attention to detail. They are a little pricey but look to be worth it so far.

Tourmaster's Polar-Tex glove can be had for about 45 dollars. I used a pair with a silk liner in temps down around 40-45 with no problems.

But NY winters much harder than NC winters.

Well I'm finally going to get heated gloves. I've tried many non-electrics, Hippo Hands ( which cut down the wind alot ), overgloves and the like. Even held off thinking the four new arteries to my heart might help with the circulation. Nope! Hands got cold on an unusually cool morning for this time of year, but about average for what passes for winter in the San Francisco Bay area.

So I went on a search. Reading all kinds of reviews and gathering all the data/prices/pros and cons for each manufacturer. Yes, Gerbling is not the only one out there. I found Widder. Great reviews, innovative applications, and more than competitive prices. Only one problem. All their warrentee's expire Dec. 31st, 2008. One person on a blog wondered what that meant. So, I called. Finally getting through, the person confirmed they are closing their doors as of 31 Dec.
If I was in pirate mode I'd say "Blast their eyes!"
Luckily I was in shopping and writing mode. But Dang! I do all this research and find what I want, then discover their closing. I am sorry to hear it. We now we have one less choice, and I must make a new selection.

I bit the bullet last year. I tried on the Widder and the problem I had with them wast the gauntlet was so long, as it got up my forearm it was too tight to get my finger tips into them. I just couldn't pull them any higher.

I ended up going with First Gear.

There are so many choices out there, in quality, style and price, it is hard to know what is right. I ordered a pair of snowmobile gloves with a removable liner from an internet site. They are textile, which will be a switch from wearing leather all these years. They are supposed to come in tomorrow. but December, January & February temps will be the true acid test.

Check out the sites that sell snowmobile gear. That's where I got mine and they
work pretty good. The best thing I have found for cold weather riding is heated hand grips.
