Default something to hold my items on a bike...bungeE? case? ...

Lately, when i ride its fricken cold in the morning ~40f. I have to wear my work shirt with a t-shirt under, and my riding jacket with liner... But then temps go up to 80f+~ and i feel like im roasting with all that. So I take it off. Problem is, I have no where to put it.

I was thinking a backpack but i feel uncomfortable riding with a backpack that early in the morning with all that extra puff. So then I thought a backpack attached to the bike with some bungee cords... That there might work.

So I ask, am i trying to re-invent the wheel here? Is there a product out there that will solve my problem?

I rather not have something on my back.

I want something i can store my jacket liner, tshirt, pants, a simple rain set and an SLR camera with a few lens. A school backpack usually does the trick.

Oh, and I don't like leather saddle bag look for me.
(looks good on other bikes but not mine)

Do you have a tank bag of some form? Damn near all my stuff fits in it, and it expands if I need a little extra room. I usually carry my work clothes (including shoes) in it. Plus, it still has room for my cheap rain gear, flat tire kit, small tool kit, and my spare visor.

Any recomendations in brand / material? etc...

why not just use the backpack and a cargo net (about $6.00) on the tail or back seat?

cargo net tight/strong enough? for a backpack? i'm afraid of loosing it on a bumpy turn.
i mean surely, i can add some straps and what not... but if a cargo net will do, thats all i need ^_^

I bought a set of these : Nelson Rigg CL-1000 Standard Saddlebags :: New Enough Motorcycle Hard Parts

But... a cargo net will probably work just fine. I've never had anything fall off when I have used on properly (e.g. held down tight enough).

Ya mon. 6 hooks give you plenty of purchase- unless that backpack has an anvil in it.

I've heard of the hooks on cargo nets breaking and possibly getting caught in the wheel/sprocket/chain. I use mine all the time, but never for anything heavy so I don't put too much of a load on the hooks. I use it mostly for shoes or a sweater or a small cooler. Anything bigger, I try to tie it down with straps.

I have a tail bag that bungees to the back seat, but I find it a pain to use. My biggest problem with it is that the bottom is soft and deforms. I also have a tiny tail bag that I really like. I'd love to get a bigger one, but Kawasaki cruisers have their speedometers on the tank and a bigger bag will cover that up. If I had a sport bike, I'd be all over a tail bag.

I wouldn't mind having a locking top case, but be aware that they put the weight up high and far back. Don't use one for heavy objects.

I've seen conversions for sport bikes that put a small trunk in the tail section behind the rider, but I don't know if that's availble for your bike.
