Default Best Rain Gear For Florida??

I live in south Florida, the sunshine state - yeah I know; it sucks.
Our rainy season is in the summer, when it's as hot as h*ll here. Seeing as I'm now riding to work every day I want to buy some rain gear but need some advice. I really like the Tourmaster range but don't know if I should get a simple jacket that fits over my AlpineStars Airflow jacket or should I go with one of the more "technical" jackets that have elbow/shoulder/back protectors built-in? In summer it rains hard every day, so it needs to be waterproof but it also has to be breathable as it's 85+ degrees and 80% humidity.
Thanks for any input.

I vote for looking at some Frog Toggs. Feels like you are wearing nothing at all, and has a great rep. I liked them when I borrowed a spare set on a ride with a summer storm.

Go to a mountain biking shop and buy a vented waterproof over-jacket that will fit over your usual armoured gear. It will cost less than a motorbike one and will be tougher, breathable and more waterproof too.

I'm voting for the Frog Toggs...just make sure you get the Road Toad model which has reflective piping and a hood that fits nicely under my FF helmet and keeps the water from running down my back.

I live in sunny/warm AZ and I agree on the Frog Togs. They are thin and easy to pack on the bike and work excellent. Be careful when putting them on and off as the material is fairly thin, and can be ripped easily.

even waterproof/breathable won't feel too breathable in S. Florida unless you are at highway speeds. I wear a cooling vest and collar underneath my gear at about 85 degrees and up. Here is a link to one of the suppliers:

Arctic Heat USA Cooling Products

I can tell you. With this gear on you will feel cool and be able to laugh at the heat.

A breatheable vest doesnt mean jack when you live in South Florida. In south Florida, You can stand naked at a red light on your bike, and you'll still feel like dying of heat. Only wind can help.
