Seems the concensus in here favors Fox Creek Leather. They are pricey but from what I've been able to gather in here and from their website, I'd say they are worth the extra bucks. I'm going with them when I need to replace mine.

Too many offerings with armor to not get some. Layers can do you right, some come with the outer shell, a waterproof layer, and a liner to make it a very easy jacket to change due to temps and conditions. But those are not usually leather.

Your bike is black, so the obvious choice is there, but some of the good textile offerings come in other colors, and should be considered. I changed from a black to a green, same jacket, and found summer much more bearable.

try leatherup.com My wife got me a new classic motorcycle jacket for christmas and it is very good quality and prices is very reasonable. Just order up one size as they are just a bit small for the sizing. I wear a 42 regular and she got me a 44R and it fits like it was made for me. It cost under a $100.

I got mine through Bikerleather.com . Nice folks to deal with, and good price. Had mine a few years and its holding up well. When I ordered mine it was $99.00. It is vented, and has a zip in liner as well. Take a look at what they have.

I bought a Milwaukee leather jacket from JP, not cheap, but it is heavy duty, vented and lined for riding in all weather. All in all a great jacket.

I got mine from Leatherup.com too. Love it. Everyone said to get a size up. I did. feels great. Haven't been cold in it yet. 50 degrees in the rain. Can't say the same for my jeans...

My local shop carries Daniel Smart. My jacket is heavy and has a liner and vents. The chaps are warm too. It was just under $300 for both. No problems so far down to 14F with only dress clothes underneath. It's a heavy jacket and not ideal for hot summer days, I think mostly because the black is soaking up the sun.

A second vote for Fox Creek Leather. My Classic II arrived Wednesday. This morning it was 28 degrees and it kept me warm. The fit and finish cannot be described my mere words. Call them before you order and they can help make sure you will get a perfect fitting jacket.

Got mine at Leatherup. Two things to say about that:
1. Had to return for a larger size (I ordered one plus as it were and had to go up another) Perhaps they are dealing with small chinese people when they say XL. This meant that I had to wait 4 weeks for them to get their act together to send out a replacement.
2. Prices were very good and quality is just OK. Zippers are a lot more on the lean, thin brass side and I suspect snaps and buttons are too. However, you get what you pay for. (The leather was very good and heavy.) So over all I was satisfied.

I have had good luck with Firstgear jackets. Mid range pricing and good quality. I have a Fox Creek as well and that is top shelf. Very heavy, the only drawback is the liner is not as nice as my Firstgear. Plenty of venting with both so depending on climate you can still be comfortable.

Just realize if you get a "Wilsons" or that style inexpensive jacket, make sure its actually for motorcycling.

I see too many people buy a "biker" jacket that isnt a biker jacket at all.

Excuse me for choosing "http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/riding-gear/96422-need-good-leather-jacket.html#post1507875" to leave a message. I have advised to the co-worker Leo Kelly this home based computer business and he remained is happy. Ask how much people will pay for it, deduct your expected expenses, and ask yourself if the profit is worth your time. Be brutally honest with yourself. Be sure you consider your local prospects rather than how a business might do in general.

I bought this jacket off ebay.

The seller is Jackets4bikes. It seems to be a vendor for off-brand motorcycle gear. Well, most of it looks pretty much brandless (generic). But I LOVE my jacket.

I have a Joe Rocket mesh ballistic jacket for the summer time. The Joe Rocket seems a little more fancy in the way it is put together. The padding seems a little more complicated with the way it bends. I had to get a leather jacket for winter to stay warm and decided on this one. This leather jacket does seem to be a little less quality than the joe rocket jacket - a little less refined. The armor doesn't look quite as "cool" but I can't imagine that it's any less effective. It fits me perfectly. It is real leather (it's tough, thick, and kinda stiff, but loosens up). The zipper works well. The pockets are nice. It kept me warm. After wearing this jacket and going back to the joe rocket, I felt a lot safer in the leather.

Just $90 for this thing... I think it's well worth the money. It's biggest flaw is in the armor pockets. It is very difficult to get the armor out of the jacket. Doesn't really matter, because I don't have much need to anyway.
