I guess thats what they call them no matter what they look like. I have a pair of heavy rubber over boots but I dont like that they take up allmost a saddle bag themselves. So I'm looking to go the route of the "covers". No the problem is to figure out which is best. I thought I would go with a style like the tourmasters at first, foot dlips in and has a sole in the front part and is open in the back, or a rain gator same deal. Then got to thinking about how much it rains here in Fla sometimes, if the thing is open in the back/bottom what keeps your foot dry? So I guess I'm back to something that covers the entire shoe. I have looked on E-bay and there are a few that totaly cover the shoe. Somewhere someone suggested a Choko or something like that. Dont find many dealers for that but there is one on E-bay from China that looks suprisingly like it, but I'm scared to give them my paypal info you know?

I have the ones that you described with the heel open. I've ridden in very heavy rains before. my boots got slightly wet around the heel section, but they did their job just fine and obviously take up very little space.

Some look to be more open than others.
These are the ones from China but look alot like the Choko. ![]() Then there is this style with what looks like maybe a heavy vinyl or something on the bottom but it is inclosed. ![]()

well, just keep in mind that the enclosed ones have no way for water to escape easily either. I would suspect that you'll get a little bit of moisture through the nylon.

Hmm never thought of it that way. But I dont usualy get rain inside my suit so I dont know. I kind of favor the middle ones. I'm afraid the bottom ones would be slipery when you went to put your foot down at a light or something.

Um, just a different idea. I use Camp Dry. You know- that waterproofing stuff available at WallyWorld? Follow the instructions on the can about once a month. I've yet to have wet feet. For the occasional "just in case" horrendous, torrential rain riding I keep a pair of plastic shopping bags with my rain gear: remove boot, put foot in bag, put foot-in-bag in boot. Even if the water works its way thru my feet will still be dry. It never has btw worked its way thru.

Yea part of the problem is I ride to work. If it was on the way home no biggie. But after I get to where I'm going I usualy ride5hr or more in an airplane so wet feet aint a happin deal. Even wet shoes. Thanks for the insite though, it is allways good to have your shoes preped up. I try to keep them polished up just because thats they way they were for 20yr.
